Uh, not to rain on PMac's parade (pull of a lifetime, by the way -- unbelievable), but a commenter on his You Tube video raises a point I hadn't considered: "Say hello to higher taxes." Bonds' home run ball ‘an expensive catch‘ - Barry Bonds- nbcsports.msnbc.com

How are dual autos selling for a fraction of what the Grant sold for? Wow - astonishing to me personally - thoughts?

Not everyone may want those two people. You get a dual auto of Brett Favre and Alex Smith. One person carries the card, and the Favre would probably get more on his own. It might be the same for these on some (not all). Some people might prefer some of these historical figures alone and not combined.

There are a lot of civil war collectors out there, that probably helped push the price of the Grant up. I would expect the same with any signers of the declaration/constitution, there are a lot of collectors chasing those autographs.

The seller also used BIN/BO, unlike the others who let the auctions run. Maybe that's the best way to sell these? Or run them as BIN/BO initially to get some interest in the card, then relist it as an auction? Not sure what the best way would be...

I like your post. It's well put. And to answer your question...Because George Washington and Abraham Lincoln never signed the same document.

In regards to the single cut autos and their respective documents, unless this set is extremely popular still 20 years down the road, I'd have to agree with you and say the document.

You never know, there could end up being a law right around the corner where it becomes illegal to destroy a historical document in order to sell a signature. I'm surprised there aren't any regulations on it now. If for some reason that law happened tomorrow, you can bet these cards would be worth an untold fortune.

Something to think about I guess.

That right there is something I didn't think of! If something like that were to pass, well that would actually change the outlook on everything!

Roosevelt/Churchill just listed:

Roosevelt /Churchill 08 Razor Oval Office Cut Auto 1/1 - eBay (item 110355320652 end time Mar-24-09 15:48:06 PDT)

This should bring a nice return in good economic times.

Default hi

Hi

just wondering. Right you have better odds from this than you do lotto.

But just curious i have looked in this thread has many people sold there box above the price they bought it for. Having a look a lot of people would of lost money on this and few lucky ones make heaps.

I wouldn't risk it as im a Aussie and 2500 US is like 4 grand Aussie too big a gamble for me to spend on one card hoping to get a good card.

I agree, too big of a risk for me as well. The percentage of cards making their money back or more is small compared to those that are losing the buyers money.
