There is a lot to like about that card. Funny. Check. Nice art. Check. Colors that pop. Check. I'd be excited to own that card, too.

Nice looking card. Congrats.

Well done, Ted! You painted this, right? Did you paint others, and are other artists using paint more and more on cards now?

Thanks Matt. Yeah, I painted all my Mars attacks cards. I used paints on this set to help give it the feel of the original set. I don't think more artists are using paint over other mediums, but there are more artists who used paints more exclusively than there used to be. Charles Hall, for example, paints most of his cards, but he's always done that. Same with Mick & Matt Glebe.

Me, I just go for whatever's appropriate for what I'm trying to achieve.

You know, it's kind of scary seeing this blown up so large. I can see all the imperfections. But at the same time, I can see a lot of subtleties that show my influences.

Actors don't like HD either because it shows their imperfections, but they don't lose fans over it. Your card looks great, zoomed in or not.

I love painted cards. I think all these earlier sketch cards will be sought after in the future for their artistic value, and I think the painted cards might very well lead the way. It's going to be interesting looking back at these issues, 20 and 30 years down the road.

They were sold as a fund raiser years ago. I was pretty excited to acquire them and help out a charity in doing so.

I own these 4. Do you remember, were there more? I know at the time I purchased these, they were all that were offered at that time, but I may have missed others.

That card looks very familiar. I wonder if I was outbid or possibly misplaced it in my collection.

This is a long shot...you don't by chance remember who bought it do you?

Red face

It is worth every penny! Its going to be the centerpiece of the sketch collection I'm making for my 6 y/o daughter. [Lots of funny cards from Beck Seashols, Agnes G etc]

When I 1st saw these, that was one of my favorites. I think actually chuckled. The one I really want it the Ali knocking out the Alien but I haven't seen it yet.
