Because it's not clear. You are making an assumption based on what information has been provided. It does not actually say he did all the base art. It only says you can find original art for his base cards.

For example, in the DC Epic Battles set, there was original base card art available as a redemption. Only the art for one of the puzzles by one of the artists.

I hope the he has done the art for the entire set. I just don't understand why that wouldn't be clearly stated if that was the case. The only clear information about the base set: 60 cards, all female, #/225 of the base, and the parallels.

And here is another write up, which confuses things more:

2016 Upper Deck Marvel Gems Trading Cards Details

So reading this one makes it sound like the Exquisite base cards are new artwork all by Olivetti, but not the regular base cards. Yep, need more info.

Actually I thought that summary was pretty clear that he did the art for the Exquisite base set, a set within a set they called it (I always thought they were called subsets or insert sets...), not the standard 60 card base set. Whether or not it's accurate...? typical upper deck information (lack there of).

Yeah I agree with you, that UD link actually clarifies things a little better.
Only the exquisite set has original art by Olivetti - not the 60 card base set Def looking foward to seeing this exquisite set

That link does make it sound like there is an "Exquisite" base set where the art is original.

It looks like this set has the makings of being a hit. Hopefully, the limiting of the quantity of sketch cards also means they will be of higher quality. MMJusko was a fantastic set, but the sketches were lacking. Too many of them had the look of quick "repeat-a-sketches" since so many artists drew from the same Jusko-inspired images. This set appears to have more room for creativity and quality as long as UD doesn't let subpar sketches slip through.

Upper Deck will probably use all the sketch cards that Marvel approves regardless if collectors may view them as subpar.

Well... I give Upperdeck zero respect for their standards, but... With the limited run and long odds on sketches, there is absolutely no reason they need to contract anybody but the top tier of elite sketch card artists to fulfill the necessary number of sketch cards. Time will tell...

I rec'd a pre-sale price of $140 a box (10 box inner case, 20 box master)

Anyone else hear anything about pricing yet? I want to jump in on this, but MM and Aliens created a nice hole to dig out of

Tell me that was sarcasm? 200+ a box for only the women? pass. Half a product.

I've stopped collecting cards, and am just working on a couple older sets. UD is just taking advantage of people at this point. Sets are too expensive, and there's no consumer surplus. I open a pack and feel like #@#@#@#@ ever sketch I get. MM was the end for me.

Looks like pre-sales are around $190 per box. Still hard to make a judgment until some example cards are seen. Hope there is a lot of original art, that should make these more popular as opposed to recycled images.

Pretty easy pass for me at that price, since you are only getting 5 cards plus 1 hit in the Exquisite pack. Maybe I would have been interested in it at half the price ($100/box), I just don't see the value at $190. Same price as Marvel Premier, but with less content? At that price, I would rather open Marvel Masterpieces.

Isn't MM well above that now? I've been seeing no less than $240 per box.

I think the set will still "sell out" and the chunk that doesn't sell to bricks and mortars will sell well through ePacks. It looks like the print run will be pretty limited based on the low X/225 of the 60 card base set, so there will be enough collectors at that print level to justify the $190ish price.

I think the epacks avenue provides UD with a bit of a security blanket with its Marvel releases. It almost becomes 2 releases... the first wave of bricks and mortar and the second wave of epacks a few weeks later.

It's also insulated against market changes too. MM was available on e-packs for below market and Alien is still available there for well over what it should be at $6 pack and $100 whatever a box. It's great when it's under market price, but horrible when it's over for the consumer. But for UD, they are totally insulated to the market. I wonder if that will last...

Holy crap ~$200 at 20 boxes per case?! That seems ... odd...

Nevertheless, set looks sweet. About time UD took a cue from Rittenhouse with a female set.

Good looking cards, I'll probably be picking up some singles.

I'm seeing $2K for 10-box cases pre-order. sigh. I agree with the above statement about frustration with Upper Deck....guess we won't be seeing any more 50-70 dollar Marvel boxes from UD in the near future?

Looks like a neat set though, similar to a Marvel Retro release with the jambalayas and tiered gems.

Think about it... Make more cards and sell them for less, or make less ads and sell them for more? These premium limited sets are a double win for the company.

Has anyone heard more about this product? I am guessing, the original November release timing will not be happening?
