6174 total parallels at the minimum of 3 per set comes to 2058 sets, so you're probably correct.

Well, 7 of the original 56 wrappers aren't being reprinted, and wouldn't you know it, two of them are the awesome floating Tarkin heads. I also didn't see Brainiac on the checklist, so that's three of the missing cards. Not sure what the other four are, but it's a shame it's not the entire original set, as issued. I wonder why.

I think these will sell a lot faster than AOTC 3d, but not as quickly as Sith 3d (or even close to how fast Jedi 3d sold out), due to those latter two sets having sketch cards.

If it's indeed 1977 sets, they moved about 400 sets with the free shipping aided initial offering as there looks to be 1571 available for ordering currently, so 20% of the run iis gone. Even if there's only one of each of Luke, Leia, and Han, that's about a one in 650 shot at a one of a kind big time autograph. But if there's, say, three of each for those signers, then one would fall every 220 sets. The early breaks will go a long way towards determining if these make it to clearance as did Sith and AOTC 3d did. (Jedi 3D did not, but it boasted original trilogy autographs AND sketches. I suspect this one will be more popular than the Prequel 3D sets, but not as popular as Jedi 3D which sold out at full price in a week or so.)

Good luck to my fellow early buyers. I pre-ordered two sets as I'm fortunate to have someone I buy one of every Star Wars set for, at their directionn. That means I've already got my extra base set sold, and he'll also take any autos I don't want. (Plus I got both McDiarmids from just 9 clearance priced boxes of AOTC 3d, so I'm sort of on house money with Topps online products right now).

Looking forward to the breaks. Being on the West Coast, mine'll come last since everything takes a whole week to get here

Sadly, that's the only thing that might've added some value to folks like Tim Rose.

Yeah I was lucky enough to get a 1/1 Kit Fisto auto from AOTC and was equivalent to hitting a big name auto.
They don't need a ton of parallels but maybe ones #/10 and 1/1's

Why are people paying $99 when this is almost 100% guaranteed to drop $25-$50 within the coming months?

Add to that the fact TOPPS is being oddly secretive about print run, which they always publish for online exclusive sets, that's a huge red flag.

I'll get one at $40-$50 but not more than that.

I am happy they got Mark Capri to sign again though since his autos aren't easy to come by at a reasonable price.

Given the signer list, I think they'll sell out far before they reach $40-50 but $99 plus shipping is a bit much for me. I'm going to wait for the first sale where it's about $80 and go then if it's not sold out

1,540 are still currently available. These will not sell out any time soon @ $100 a pop.

Thought about it briefly, but with high shipping and customs, getting a box or two in the U.K. is at least $150 per box at full price. Can't justify it.

Does TOPPS put the full amount up right away?

Plus like someone else said, we can probably assume Ford is a 1/1 auto only in this set. Also, I feel with Carrie passing away they're going to get more selective on sticker usage as well, so she's likely 10 autos at most.

Seems neat for a set, and I plan on getting one, plus the lotto aspect of pulling a big name is nice, but too many low level signers for me for the current price.

I'm thinking 1 Han, and 3 each of Luke/Leia, at most. Even that would be 7 big hits in just 1,977 "packs" (ok, $100 packs, but packs nonetheless!).

I've always wanted this wrapper set. I can't even remember seeing the actual gum for sale as a kid. I was saving the original 1977 Topps cards, so I'd have definitely saved those wrappers. I am bummed not all of the wrappers are being reprinted, especially this guy:

Glad the reprint of it was delayed until the age of autographs. and I'm likely to PC at least a couple of the base parallels from this, which I don't normally do. Hoping for at least 7 or 8 parallels between the two boxes.

I think there are 2 reasons why Topps will not be making more than 1,977 sets

1) In order to get 3-5 parallels they can't make more
2) Sales have been slow, so there is no reason for them to make more.

Maybe they will actually end up making less because they would rather sell 1,200 at $100 each, instead of 400 at $100 and 1,600 at $50 or less!

Both scenarios come to $120,000 in sales, however selling fewer at a higher cost would cut down material costs by up to 40%!

These online exclusive products are different than hobby or even retail, because Topps has to sit on all of the inventory or sell them at a huge discount!

I believe Topps should want to print the correct number for these online exclusives for their own bottom dollar.

On the bright side it was smart of them to not throw manufactured relics in this set.
Throw in some different colored parallels to fix that!
Saves them $ too.

I will sit this one out and hope it gets discounted.

Well said! Topps is close to the definition of insanity in the way that they have been producing these last few non sports exclusive box sets (SW,DW,Rocky...) They have to be tired of clearancing these things out but we will see what has been learned with this set.

So the missing cards from the original wrapper set are:

6. Jawa
17. Luke
22. R2-D2
28. Pons Limbic AKA Brainiac
29. Tarkin
43. Tarkin
56. Luke & C-3PO

Wonder why those in particular...

Be cool if the put the 196 plates in the sets, as a bonus.

I don't think these are print-to-order, so lagging sales wouldn't effect their set amount.

I'm just shocked that if the actual number is 1977 they didn't promote that. That is definitely a selling point.

I just want to reiterate that it was total speculation on my part and somewhat tongue in cheek that I said there could be 1977 total sets because after I had bought one I checked the remaining inventory and there were 1976 in stock. My supposition was there there were 1977 total because I must have been the only one dumb enough to buy one.

There could be 1977, or 2000, or 2500 or...

I just don't want my joke to get lost in the pages of the thread and the 1977 number to be taken as fact.
