Also am I the only one irritated they have reused the same character photos for autos for 3 or more sets now?

Is there no other "approved" shot of salacious crumb, yak face, or saurin?

I've noticed that too in their digital card trader app. I just figured it's easier the designers to just copy and past into different card borders haha. Quick and easy!

I got my box today.

I got a Mike Quinn as Sy Snootles 27/99

And Denis LAwson as Wedge Antilles red 1/1 !

I would show a pic, but I can't figure out to post pics to this site.

If anyone wants to trade a Carrie Fisher or Mark Hamil Auto from any release for my 1/1, I'm open.

Posted my two boxes in the breaks (with pix), but here's the autos:

Bulloch /99
Revill /99
Dodson /25
Ankrum /5

Got 8 parallels, 4 per box. There were 5 blues, 2 greens, and a gold.

Good stuff, good enough...

Got my box in yesterday, and i have to say that the card printing is damn CHEAP. The cheap card trader (app inspired) set is better quality than this. While the throwback designs are fun, its too bad they appeared to have used some really crappy card stock. Most of my parallels have scuffing on the surface right out of the box! NOT worth 100 bucks a box. 50 at most. The hits were ok, but damn, the cards look so cheap!!

I think Topps was going for a sticker or wrapper like feel, but yeah I would have rather had a thicker stock myself.

I can see how they may have tried to do that, but unfortunately, they just look really bad. The heritage type of card stock is really nice, would have preferred they just did that! They might have just as well made them all thin stickers or something if they wanted to replicate a cheap crappy look.

I'm a sucker for these vintage looking designs, so i fell for this one.

Here's a pic of the scuffing/scratching (not some kind of grime that can be wiped off) that is on one of my parallels. All my parallels right out of the box have this for some reason.

My issue is the 7 missing wrappers not reprinted from the original set.
That said, it was a fun break. Seems like the white border autograph is on top, so you can slowly fan out the pair of autographs to see who you got on your parallel autograph underneath. Same goes for the base parallels, in terms of looking for a gold or red.

I think the card stock should have been a little thicker, too, and I would've went with metallic foil borders on all parallels. If they had, this set could have been issued in, say, a 16 pack hobby box with 4 cards per pack and the same amount of hits/parallels. That would've been autographs 1:8 packs and base parallels 1:4 packs. You'd have got a full base set from a box, and both hits (for once) would've been guaranteed autographs, not manufactured relics. Sold that way, they could've easily got $80 per box, and likely sold a whole lot more than 500 boxes by now.
(I'd have also put the printing plates in the boxes. With 200 of them, they could've been seeded about one in every 10 sets, a nice bonus for those who found them.)

Yes, some foil accents would have helped to make them look a bit more 'premium'!

I do like the autograph cards in this set though, and being an original trilogy fan, this set is good for that at least. If these do happen to go on sale eventually, I would consider breaking a few more boxes just for the autos. It's just too bad as I think these kind of sets could have more potential than what they put into it.

Yeah, they really could've spiced up those base parallels with some better borders. You can call the #/25 version "gold" if you want to, but sorry, that's good 'ol yellow. Maybe they were trying to match the borders to the somewhat muted colors of the original wrappers.

One of the 7 not-reprinted cards was a Jawa, and there is a version of that card in the autograph set, signed by Rusty Goffe. So while we're missing images of Tarkin and Brainiac from the original set, thanks to the autographs, there are some New Hope era appropriate "cards that never were" to collect, in other words, characters from Episode IV who could've shown up in the original 1978 wrapper set, but didn't. By my count, the 49 reprinted cards are joined by at least 7 such cards. I don't expect to get the big name autos in any version at this point, but I might go for a set of those lesser named "New Hope" signers on normal white border autographs as a fairly inexpensive supplement to the regular 49 card base set.

Anybody have just a base set of this they'd like to trade for an Attack of the Clones 3D set?

So I haven't had time to look thru the cards, but each box has 3 base card parallels which means you wouldn't have a complete white border set, right? Or are those extras?

Also worth noting Topps sold thru a bunch of this set at Celebration, probably 300-500 boxes at least.

I ask Topps for this for almost every set and they fail to deliver.

I'm mad I didn't catch Mark Von Ohlen at the convention, I wanted to ask him in person why the secrecy. They did it for MW2 only because they huge fan uproar and then stopped right away.

I'd buy another box if it was half off, but damn, the quality of this set is really poor. But I do like that it's an original trilogy focused set.
