Default 2016 Marvel Annual is Coming to Upper Deck e-Pack

So are they just trying to get rid of the excess? I do not quite understand how they can have a product from last year become ePacks. Do they open all the packages, scan them in and then sell them at random.

That was my assumption about Dinosaurs, and I'm inclined to think the same here.

It's a great idea to be honest. People will buy some amount of anything they put on epack and its a great way to get rid of excess stock at full retail.

I am also wondering this?

Does some dude, just crack all the wax, scan and then sell? What are the logistics of how this is cracked/sold??

I know no one here is going to know that answer for sure, but I look at this with your average scrutiny and skepticsm.

I am guessing this was actually a planned ePack release. I am pretty much still collecting dinos, so I willl sit this one out for the most part... unless the price point is favorable ($3.99 or below like DS and Dinos). I have a feeling it will be a $5.99 set like Cap though. Also, a new hockey set just hit too, so not sure there will be too much bleed over from the hockey guys on this one. The fact that the hobby release didn't do to well, doesn't bode too well for this set taking off.

I thought it was all contracted out to COMC? Wasn't that posted in one of the other e-pack threads?

COMC definitely scans all the cards and has them in inventory to send out. The question is whether UD sends the cards to COMC in sealed packs, or already as singles. Based on the Marvel Masterpieces set, where some inserts hit much more frequently in e-pack than in physical packs, it seemed like it's not just someone opening a pack, and writing down what cards are in it, and that's what you get on e-pack. Seemed like the e-packs site uses some type of algorithm to randomize what you get in a pack based on what is left in stock. At least that's how it seemed to me.

Yes, that is what they did with Masterpieces 2016.

Anyone else picking this up today when it hits? It hasn't posted yet, but I am in for a box (assuming it isn't too pricey).

Yes. If priced well I'll move base similar to dino to get the remaining foils I need to Captain America set.

Won't chase the set since fleer ultra spiderman is coming out very soon.

I'm really hoping for a $3.99 price tag like Doctor Strange. If it comes in at $2.99 like Dinos, it could do very well. But doubt it will go that low. If it comes in at $5.99, like Cap, I think the shelf life of trading activity will be like a week and then people will sit on their wallets waiting for Spidey.

Like above, any trading card money this month will likely go to Spidey

Bought a few packs (2.99). Kind of an old school looking set. I like the art! Pulled one dual patch card.

I opened 7 packs. Pulled an Iron Man/Black Widow dual patch in my first pack. I think I'm done. While the price point is excellent, the sketch odds are long and the more rare manufactured patches do not appeal to me.

Good luck to everyone opening though, the plexi cards look awesome!

Bought 4 packs and pulled a Top 10 Issues Silk Vol 2 #3 1:240 odds
Happy Birthday Deadpool 1:36
And a very Guardians themed SP base set- Drax and Rocket.

Fun for the price point.

I hit a patch in 5 packs. Kinda cool I guess. The base set is pretty decent. Definitely will be waiting for actual boxes to tank on ebay. It'll cost too much to make a foil set in this that's virtually worthless.

However the glebe brothers sketch achievement is pretty cool. At least that achievement will carry some serious value.

Love the price point on this. Pulled a sketch and a few other inserts out of five packs. Good of them to go back to combining ten cards to make a base instead of the ridiculous twenty for Dr. Strange. I like the look of the base cards, and there's a nice amount of inserts to chase. Next paycheck is gonna be fun!
