148.50 is a break even price for MW2 ...

But 148.50 is an amazing price if they make it like MW1

We just have no idea what we will get for MW3....

Will topps give us 8-10 sketches per case like 1

Will they have new big signers...

Will not find out until 2 days before release... But a few cases is worth the risk imo...

I think Masterwork releases should guarantee a minimum of one tier 1 auto hit per case.

Ford, Ridley, Hamill, Fisher, Mcdiarmid, Daniels, Baker, Boyega, Driver, Jones etc.

With the 2 autograph per box guarantee, I don't think Topps is planning on having a lot of sketches. There is still room to have more sketches than MW2 but I don't think MW1 level is a possibility. I would hope for at least 4 sketches per case.

This. The new model is autograph heavy, GF Reborn and Journey are both going this route. Guarantee an autograph and then one other hit. The issue we ar having is big auto hits are drifting out all the time. 40th was over 1 in 10 cases for main cast.

I normally buy a box per release, unfortunately buying two for mw2 last year before they changed it up last minute.

But I've stopped preordering since they've been changing details last , minute every set I order ahead on.

The good thing is I finally found a local card shop I can buy from and they don't gouge as much for r1s2 or 40th.

I bet... Which is a bad thing to do with Topps Star wars...

But after disaster of MW2

I think we get 8 sketches per case this time....

32 hits per case.. 16 autos 8 sketches 8 manu plates cells etc...

This would be a good breakdown.

I also agree with the above to guarantee that you get a top 8-10 signer per case.

When you pay this much for a high end product and you get 16+ autos per case, how hard should this be?

There is very little chance of 8 sketches, so in that respect I think you are wrong.

Pre-sale pricing up on Blowout. $165 a box or $1,299 a case. Doesn't seem too bad. Just a long time to keep money tied up. They have a release date of November 8.

We still don't have previews of a lot of big names for this set. None of the big OT people were shown even.

If sketch cards are more common I'll probably pick up a box, otherwise I'll just support the secondary market and buy the few autos I want and a base/insert set.

Hypothetically, wouldn't it make more sense to pre-order like halfway to release date so they don't make as much if they truly are doing print-to-order?

I guess idk how early they start printing and cutting off distributors.

It doesn't work like that. Distributor preorders are only open for like 3-4 weeks and then it's too late. The distributors that I'm active with have not ordered any extra Star Wars for any release this year and have stated that they will keep this policy after getting burned on most of the 2016 products.
If you use a distributor and fail to get an order in before the deadline then you are just like everyone else watching what the market does at release.

Very few people understand how pre-ordering works at the distributor level. I always get people wanting to preorder(at preoder prices) 2 weeks from release date.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't a lot of orders already been placed by the time the public can pre-order them on sites like Blowout? A store owner I know said that there are lots of times where he has to put in his order before he has even seen a sell sheet.

Yep, there are time we have to place preorders sometimes without even a sell sheet. It's not too often, but it does happen. Also, placing preorders does not guarantee I will get what I ordered either. Even with Topps.

wow, ok. good to know.

also odd, BOs big competition has these boxes for $45 more per box. That's a much larger difference than usual. I wonder if it's due to allocation or what.

At distributer levels its does not matter when you put preorders in, as long as its in before preorder deadline. Usually its months, sometimes 4+ months before it releases.

A tim rose base auto, bai ling base auto, base medallion and teranishi sketch say otherwise haha. That's still $150/box.

MW2 is barely worth $100/box. MW3 will need lower production and more sketches and less bottom tier signers or at least new ones.
