Default MTG help.....please.

Years ago I was into this around 3rd edition and black. A couple years ago I broke them out and started playing with my kids. I ended up selling them to some guy in Germany for 800-900. I couldn't belive they were worth that much.
Now my kids have been playing with their friends. If I were to buy a couple of boxes now, where should I start? They have way too many expansion sets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

My friends just started playing and for his first box he asked for Eventide (Birthday gift). So that might be a start.

I haven't played since about 6th edition, and was thinking about getting back into it. I would be interested to know what to go after again also.

Guys I'm of little help here, but check out this forum (it sucks very low activity)...but shoot a PM to the one of the admin guys there. This is one of my local stores, they hold weekly tourneys and should be of some good info.

i've been out of this for a few years but if you want to play tourney, you'll need to probably buy a few starter decks and a box or two of the latest expansion. i think type II was the popular one since most people usually want to play with the more contemporary cards. have fun!

Eh...doubt you'll get too much from Pokemon anymore unless you can find someone that still plays, but yeah...magic is still worth good money XD
