I have only found these 25 myself. There was a brief rumor that Brian Michael Bendis, Sal Buscema and Warren Ellis were also on this set, but I can't confirm those 3 as I haven't seen them anywhere!!

I had contacted Upper Deck and they would not release the list of who signed. I don't get why they would care. I want to get them all and knowing there are more out there than I thought may make me buy more product.

BINGO...THAT'S why they care...and THAT'S why they won't tell anyone.

They lose the Marvel license in 3 days and they don't care anymore about the Marvel fan base. They're just trying to make every penny they can.

I can't support UD anymore...

I can't wait until the next Marvel Masterpieces comes out. I believe someone said that Rittenhouse is taking over the license.

soulking_26 12-29-2008 08:24 PM

Rittenhouse is indeed taking over the license...BUT they may not do "Marvel Masterpieces". I know for a fact that Rittenhouse will be releasing an "X-Men Archives" set soon (confirmed by more than one artist)...so I don't know if they are just going to release sets such as these or at some point do an all-encompassing all-Marvel set like Masterpieces

either way, they will do a much better job than UD...

Just an update. I tried UD again for a checklist and here was my reply:

Hello Ian,

Upper Deck has not published a list of which writers did autograph cards or which artists did sketch cards in Marvel Masterpieces 3. There is also no information on the quantities of each writer autograph card or artist sketch cards. There are no plans at this time to release this information or publish a list like this on our website.

We are very sorry about this inconvenience. If you have any further questions please let us know.

No surprise here...

Were there ever any others to be added to this list? Thanks!

A few months after I got the 25 in the OP I stopped looking. The one or two rumored ones were either not made or are so rare they never showed up so I figured I was done.

GETINTHEHOLE 06-07-2015 02:46 PM

Gotcha! Thanks for the update!

The two writers:

BB Brian Michael Bendis
WE Warren Ellis

Have been comfirmed as signers by the art director of UD back in '09. He posted on scoundrel: "Um, I don't just work for the company- I'm the guy who personally contracts each and every one of these people to work on these sets. And yes, I have seen the Warren and Brian cards. They do exist."

Perhaps they never made into packs and are sitting on a shelf in the vault or were back doored. ??

I question the validity of the random poster.

I'm fairly certain he is talking about GoldenAvenger, who's validity should not be in question. May not post much here, but he has nearly 2500 posts on Scoundrel and has been a member there since 2006.

I don't think that either 2 were ever pack pulled. Jeff (Onlyforauctiom) bought and broke a TON of MM3 at clearance when it was offered to him, an he had tons of autos from all signers, but never Bendis and Ellis. So they were likely received too late to be pack inserted.

Agreed.....this topic has been beaten to death on Scoundrel and most if not everyone agrees there's only 25 for this set. Upper Deck releases wrong information all the time....this was more apparent with Marvel Beginnings & Marvel Retro.
