i guess i should of been more clear..alot of these cards are 40-80 years old (pre ebay..lol) how would a collector typically come about them after the film was done at the theater?

Some theaters sell them.
Some movies require the promo stuff back and I would assume at that point - they sell them. Others allow the employees first come first serve. My sister in law has a bunch of stuff back when she worked at them. But having a friend at a movie theater here is a great in if you need/want one. If not and there's something your interested in..ask one of the employees. A few bucks in their pocket can probably land you what you want if they can get it.

The old lobby cards were typically thrown out as they were made for a showing, some were kept by the old owners others given away, there are many replicas out there so be careful if buying them and looking for an original, now a days they just use posters and most are required to be returned with the movies. Hope that helps!

thanks man..
i have been checking/researching them alot lately, unless its a beast card from a super popular film, or an exceptional rarity of a niche market (just saw a dull houdini sell on ebay for 4 grand) they are pretty darn cheap...also alot of them arent that attractive, so the interesting/pretty ones really capture your eye..
