Ted - you really put some amazing work out. I hope I am able to get one or two of your sketch cards. You can tell that you put a lot of time and effort into this product.

I hope you can land one as well. Mars Attacks is almost like Star Wars to me - it's something I've held near and dear since my childhood. I wanted to put all I could into it and, at least try to, capture the feel of the original set, which is why I painted them all.

And an FYI for anyone ordering, the card stock these were printed on is AWESOME! The sketch cards are on a nice, thick board. I hope the whole set is printed like that, the quality is exceptional.

Cool beans. Is that Acrylic paint with pen, brush? I'm an aspiring sketch artist so I'm always asking how other artists do these. I currently use a limited set of Micron pens and a few colored pencils.

These are acrylics. I prefer to paint in oils, but acrylics dry faster so I went with them. I know you can add some kind of drying medium to oils, but I'm not that experimental. And I used a brush. But for most of my cards I normally use Prismacolor markers and colored pencils. A lot of sketch artists use Copic markers which are supposed to be nicer but they are very expensive. I do have Microns which are very nice for outlining, but I don't use them a whole lot.

A good place to get supplies is dickblick.com (yes, it's SFW ). I order from them all the time.

These are my favorite out of all the sketches I've seen in this thread.

Now, I hadn't even heard of Mars Attacks apart from the Burton movie. Are the 1960s trading cards the actual source material?

Yes, but pretty much based solely on the look of the aliens. Burton got that perfect, but he turned the story into a train wreck.

Gary Kezele is doing sketches? Count me in on a case! Don't get me wrong, I have a HUGE appreciation for all of the artists here. You all do amazing work. But there is something about Gary's work that just brings it to life. I can't wait to get my commission piece from him! Cool product too.

You should google or ebay his work. It is in very high demand and very impressive.
But I want to reiterate how great MANY of the members here are. I'm new to card collecting so I can't wait to familiarize myself with more of you great artists.
