A 12 box case of The Walking Dead for only $2350

Cujobyte 04-02-2012 07:31 PM

Quite honestly, that is what I would have put my case up for on ebay before I broke it considering prices on individual boxes.

The Madbacker 04-02-2012 07:36 PM

Here's what I don't understand and you, of all people, would know this better than anyone because of your continuous research.

You can piece together a Master Set w/ the Patch for at/under $2350

Base set plus both insert sets - $60
Wardrobe set 1-17 - $450
Binder plus Wardrobe #18 - $150
All 5 Promos - $100
Both Bernthal Autos - $160
Both Yeun Autos - $60
Both Riggs Autos - $60
Both Bell Autos - $60
Both James Autos - $60
Both Rooker Autos - $80
Both Singleton Autos - $60
Both Reedus Autos - $300
Rick Patch - $750

Now, the only draws are the 1/1s and the Shane is already gone. If you buy the case, here's what you won't get:

Binder plus M18
All 5 Promos
Complete Auto set, and you won't get both Bernthals and Reedus Autos in a case.
Chances are you won't get the Lori M2 Super SP.

It just doesn't make sense.

I really think people are trying to hit that Rick Patch, and will do whatever necessary to give themselves a chance.

Anyone want to go halves on the case?? lol

Igman7 04-02-2012 08:20 PM

Remember, aside from the standard hits, there is also the sketch as well as a chance at the redemptions. Considering single boxes can fetch $200+, I would expect a sealed case to have more of a premium as you know that the sketch hasn't been pulled.

As for making sense, ultra hot wax prices don't follow logic. Take a look at Inkworks boxes of Twilight. The absolute best card you can pull isn't exceedingly rare and can pull $300-$400 whereas the boxes would sell for well over that.

This theory extends to sports releases as well.

The Madbacker 04-02-2012 09:11 PM

Oh, and my Rick Patch has 21 Watchers.

Cujobyte 04-02-2012 09:36 PM

I'm one of the watchers.

Let's all pitch in for the case, and see if we can get that patch! Lol.

t2554 04-02-2012 09:39 PM

Prices are way too high for me anymore, but at $196 a box, I can see a high roller jumping on this real soon.

edit: they also have a nice Lori sketch (which would make me steer clear of their single boxes), but it's not $500 nice (two nice Rick sketches recently went in the $300s).

Hey dude,

What do you still need for your set?

[QUOTE=The Madbacker;2470809]Hey dude,

Way too much to go for a set right now. I only have 5 autos (thanks to multiple Carl and Glenn duplicates) so I'll only be going for one auto of each character (at least I have a Reedus). The redemption ate up my entire card budget for a while so not looking to do it any time soon.

Cujobyte 04-02-2012 10:25 PM

I went the exact opposite of you t25... Instead of goin for that redemption, I chose to finish my set, with my remaining funds. Now that I'm finished tho, I may sell. As I've statd, part of my fun is the hunt, and getting it all organized. Yup I'm OCD or sumthing lol.

kyle1707 04-02-2012 11:11 PM

My dist. asked me a dozen times if i wanted cases of this..

I was like no way...

Ugh

Cujobyte 04-09-2012 01:01 AM

So, this is still sitting on DA's website for sale. I think we should all pitch in, and do a case break lol. C'mon guys!!

I think it's kinda hard to trust people over the internet to split something like this, everyone would want to do the ordering/opening/selling/etc.

The Madbacker 04-09-2012 09:33 PM

I'd rather buy 3 more Rick Patches.

It'd be a whole lot smarter that's for sure lol.

As Indy wrote earlier, stop making sense.
