2007 marvel masterpieces...

anyone buying this? I was thinking of getting a case of this thinking it could be a quick double up considering how sketch cards have sold lately..anyone else have any other opinions?

I've never really dabbled in any of the non-sports cards (well.....other than Magic the Gathering a loooooong time ago) but I'd definitely like to learn more about something like this product. Do they tend to have the potential in upside like sports cards? Or is it a lot more hit and miss than sports cards tend to be?

Honestly I don't see how you can make much on this product ...

You're at $ 80 for a box .... 1 sketch card and some inserts but everybody will have the inserts and insert sets for sale and how many people are gonna care about parallel cards ?? , so I think it comes down to the sketch card ...
How many sketch cards are gonna bring $ 80 ??

I don't think that many -- I've already seen Spiderman sketches sell at $ 60 (BIN ) so if Spiderman does''nt cover a box that tells me something ...

Now if this was $ 50 a box that might be a different story .... but who knows , some of these sketch cards will definitely go high but I think the odds of hitting a color one are gonna be tough ...

I thought the same thing about DC Legacy ... with all color sketches ... Masterpieces could have B&W sketches. Anyway, I got a couple sketches that sold for just over $100 and everything else sold for peanuts .. I still have some cards I cant give away ... it was a loser. I'm out of this one.

Can anybody please tell me why the 1996 Marvel Masterpieces sealed boxes go for over $1000.00???? I just saw one sealed box end at over $900.00 a couple of days back on ebay. What's so special about 1996 Marvelmasterpieces anyway???

so.. did anyone break this? based on my calculations ... recent ebay sales and running the numbers on how many of each card/set you can get per case, it looks like you can come out on top, even if you use conservative projected sales.

so has anyone busted a case of this so i could confirm my numbers on the collation/

With the foil, gold border, other subsets, and sketches...looks like this might make a few $.....
I am breaking two cases over the next few days
Will have some to trade if you are breaking as well.....

damn, merkin you getting a couple cases? i've been trying to move enough money around to get 1 case...

i've ran some numbers, and this is what i came up with

total base sets - 24
base foil - 4
gold foil - 80% of a full set
xmen base - 12
xmen foil - 2
spiderman base - 12
spiderman foil - 12
splash page sets - 4
sketch cards - 12

if you can avg about 50bucks/sketch.. and based off of what the current mkt value of the rest of the sets are... you can come out about 1469 before fees... who knows how much in fees you will get.

i've done "extensive" research... and searched other boards. it looks like on avg you will get 1 nice full color sketch, but if you can hit a sick sketch or artist (nar/adams/jusko) you are going to get paid. you def will have to open up shipping to international - it looks like a lot of comic collectors in the UK. if i can get at least a case by christmas i will... this still looks like a money maker. let me know how you make out

and dont buy anymore cases until i can get one. you're giong to drive up the price!
