I can't imagine this product doing well at all. The price point is way too high. A lot of non-sport collectors are set collectors and won't touch this because they won't be able to put a set together without spending a ton of money. Most of the sketch cards can't be displayed because of the irregular size. Also the artist list that was released so far includes a lot of artists we have seen may times before. Granted some of them are amazing artists but we need more major names and a guarantee that no artist will do more than 25 sketches(not sure if that number works with the production run). You know there will be 1 NAR and 200 Waterhouse monkey sketches as an example.

Not to totally bash the product the inserts look really nice. Might have to see the classic corners in person but cool idea.

I think this product will take forever to dry up because the collectors won't want to shell out the cash for it, the dealers will not want to discount it because of perceived value by UD and the flippers won't take the chance that UD will have crappy sketches. This means I probably won't have this set in my collection.

I am staying far away from it as well. WAY too much product being made for a super high end price point.

There is a chance that this could be a sleeper if "and many more!" refers to actual comic artists(current/past). I don't think anyone would argue that the sketch market is over saturated with repeated images/poses/etc. but I think sketches from actual comic artists(more mainstream) will not only hold value but have a chance to appreciate as well(i.e. J Scott Campbell/Adam Hughes/etc.). We know it's a limited release so I think the overall quality will be monitored(i.e. No Woodside/etc). No redemptions as far as we can tell so it may be worth a shot at 1 or 2 boxes to open/hold.

hold? do you think the value of this product will exceed 200 dollars if i hold this? There just isn't really any high end sketch-card products out there, so i don't know if this is product that will appreciate in value or not.

There is a reason there isn't any high end sketch product out there. If you have a top of the line artist, they probably put out great work - right?

Does the public expect better work from this "A" list sketch artist? Should there be a premium for this card, even though the work is probably going to be on the same level as say a box that cost $60?

I get there will be less product and probably an easier chance of hitting an "A" list artist - but also a bigger gamble.

My answer is still no..

Look at the Fantastic Four 50th that Rittenhouse. I don't believe the sketch cards done by the artist in that series carry a premium over any other release.

Avoiding like the plague. MAYBE at $100, if I wanted to treat myself, but no chance at $200+.

Those are decent enough sketches, but at $200 a box the quality doesn't seem any better than most recent Marvel releases. At that price point there better be a lot more sketches that are as good as that Wolverine sketch, now that kind of quality is what you would expect at that price point.

As an investment? No. If you just want to collect nice sketch cards of Marvel characters, then yes. At the price point, though, your best bet will be to pick up cards you like on the secondary market. $200 is too much when you can spend the same amount and get something more tailored to your personal preference. Heck, I'll bet a lot of AP's will be more affordable.

While I'm not sure $200 is the best price-point... you are getting at minimum 4 panels of sketch art (similar to 4 sketch cards) plus a good chance at more and inserts/base cards.

Many seem to think you could only get 1 or 2 sketch cards. A single-hinge sketch is at least 3 panels worth of art (2 on one side and 1 on the other).

No way I'm getting any of this at this price point. It's a cash grab by UD and a waste of money IMHO on anyone buying this stuff.
