Default Can someone give an introduction to comic book/card collecting?

Hey guys! I'm just starting to get into football collecting and may be interested in doing some comic stuff on the side. All I really know currently is that I've just started to get into The Walking Dead and that a bit of Spiderman and Batman can't go amiss
I literally know diddly squat about cards though and the only make I've seen so far is Cryptozoic. Are sketch cards stamped as 1/1? Are there any other 'hits' in comic products? What is the best set for either Spidey, Batman or TWD?
Thanks!
Jack

The best set right now for Walking Dead is season 1 of the show. The upcoming season 2 is sold out and now running $2k a case? which is insane.

The best entry point (but seems to be stalling a bit) is the Walking Dead Comic series of cards. I don't know if these will pick up when the new season of the TV show starts.

How much do the comic series run a box? Are there sketch cards? Any other hits?
Thanks
Jack

Ah I had that backwards. Season 1 is now $2k a case. WOW.

Blowout has all of the releases (TV show seasons 1 and 2, and comic book cards):
Search Results : Blowout Cards - Sports Cards and Trading Cards Wholesale Online Store

The comic series has sketches, autographs, printing plates, and foil parallels.

That is mental
I love the idea of sketches. I saw a box of DC The New 52 for like $50, and I think it comes with one sketch card per box. Can the sketches be rubbish?

Yah just search for 'walking dead comic' in the trading card section of collectibles. And skip over the TV series stuff.

edit:

I've looked at some New 52 and some Walking Dead. My god, some of the New 52 sketches are UGLY DC the New 52 sketch card Dennis Culver | eBay and TWD ones generally look better.
