Default Help! Damaged Case...what to do?

I bought a sealed 8-box case of X-Men the Movie at a good price ($375.00). This product is from the year 2000 and its almost impossible to find sealed hobby boxes. However, the seller failed to double-box the case and it arrived with 2 huge dents on the corners. I opened the case and found 3 damaged boxes. I don't plan to open any of the boxes, as I already have a master set. Just thought it would be neat to have a full case laying around.

Seller is offering a $30 partial refund ($10 per box) or I can return it for a full refund less shipping. Return shipping will probably cost me $30 for Parcel Post, DC, insurance, & signature confirmation. Plus its going to NJ, so I'm not sure if there will be delays due to lingering affects from the storm. What should I do? All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

File an item not as described, return, neutral/negative feedback for not double boxing.

I've seen damaged boxes where the cards were fine.

I attached a few pictures. Am I overreacting? I'm really tempted to keep the case due to scarcity, but would probably regret it if another case ever pops up. But the keyword is "ever" as I have never seen another for sale...

I think it just depends on how much it's going to bother you since it sounds like you're going to keep the boxes sealed.

Personally, I'd just take the partial refund if they are that scarce.

Well if you ever plan on selling them it will be an issue. If you are never going to sell, I would take part refund, but ask for more then $30.00

$30 isn't much of a partial refund in this instance imo, if it were me I would be satisfied with at least $50-60. It doesn't hurt to ask, the value of the boxes are lower when they are damaged like that and the seller won't want to re-list the case because he will most likely get much less.

Agree here. I would be looking for $50-$60 partial refund. Open the damaged boxes, sell the singles and put the money towards three more boxes to replace the damaged ones. That way you still have a full case of boxes.

UPDATE: The seller was very understanding and quickly worked out a solution to satisfy both parties. He apologized for the damaged shipping and I admit that I screwed things up a little by opening the case. We agreed on a $40 partial refund. I am happy. I'm working on scanning pictures to my photobucket, but here's what I have currently. Nothing is for sale. I am keeping these forever =)

- Full 8 box hobby case
- Sealed hobby box
- Sealed retail box
- Sealed blaster box
- Base set (1-72)
- 13 autograph set + Bryan Singer unsigned card
- 4 costume set + Jean Grey FX promo costume
- All hobby inserts (Chromium 1-10)
- All retail inserts (Foil 1-10, Clear 1-12)
- All promos (X1-X4, #0, unnumbered, 2x Magneto promo auto, WotC P1-P6)
- All advertisements (poster, sell sheet, distribution letter & envelope)
- Hugh Jackman signed Topps contract
- Wolverine claws & dog tag props w/ COA from studio

Looking for: Storm unsigned, Professor X unsigned, Rogue unsigned, & Wolverine unsigned (which would look great next to his Topps contract)

Since you opened the case, open the damaged boxes and just find 3 nice boxes to fill it back up. These didn't have case hits, did they?

- Hobby boxes are impossible to find. I can live with the damage. Plus its nice knowing that all the boxes came from the same case.
- No guaranteed case hits, but I recall that the Professor X & Bryan Singer were seeded one in every 2000 packs. So if you split those odds, maybe you get one or the other in every 3 cases.
