Thanks--I did see that. I asked if it was available, but apparently it was a commission for someone in Indonesia. Whoever it is, they got an awesome piece!

Almost a week without any mail--the horror!

I decided to take a departure from the comic stuff and pick up some of these Woodstock Generation sketches.

The Mr. Mojo Risin and The Walrus are 3.5" x 5" and the Bob Marley is 5"x7"

Brian Kong

Denise Vasquez

Mystery Artist

Any idea on the Marley artist's signature? It was apparently given out at the SDCC, if that helps.

Nice mailday today

I've been waiting on these Marvel Premier APs to get approved since mid-December Upper Deck really needs to work on speeding up this process--I've had no issues with RA commissions getting approved in a timely manner, so I don't think Marvel is the problem.

Anyway, these are my APs from Joe St.Pierre:

I also got a couple amazing non-commissioned Batman APs from our own Roy Cover, who also threw in this sweet Batman PSC:

And I picked up this Sara Richard Red Skull from a fellow board member:

I had sort of gone into this in my reply but decided to remove it. However, since you've said this I want to respond.

Unfortunately, that's not how the law is set up. You have to report any income, regardless of profit. I think if you fail to do that and you are getting paid through an easily traced system like PayPal, you are taking a pretty big risk.

That's not a risk I'm willing to take.

Last thing about the tax law, unless the persons who bought your cards claims you as an employee or sends you a 1099 I wouldn't worry about paypal transactions unless it's B2B.
I've never claimed any monies made from ebay as income. That's like reporting a garage sale or lemonade stands sales. But I hear ya. I have no fear of the tax man. I have nothing, they can't take nothing.

It was a boring rant about taxes--in particular the AMT provision which has snagged me this year and is requiring me to sell so many of my sketches right now.

Not so fast my friends...

Turns out I didn't have to sell quite as many cards as I thought I was going to have to get my tax bill paid.

I had to sell most of my big money cards and there were a few that were pretty hard to let go of. However, I know that the vast majority of my cards went to other collectors so it made it easier knowing I was helping out someone else's collection. In the end, I probably sold about 2/3 of the cards I had picked up (including the vast majority of Premier cards I had). I regret a few deals already, but I had a very short time to get a large amount of money together and being disappointed is easier to deal with than having the IRS coming after me

I'm going to regroup once one last sales event wraps up tomorrow and redo my Sketchcollectors.com collection. Actually, I'm going to go ahead and start tonight with this AP I had done by Rich Hennemann:

Going forward, none of my cards will be for sale. I'm not going to bore you with all the details--you can go here if you want more of those--but I will be trading and I will be opening wax.

You probably won't see big mail days from me again, but I'm still going to be around and sharing what I pick up.

I have to say, I'm pretty happy I never saw a couple of my favorite cards for sale. I would have felt terrible taking them, but if they were posted I couldn't have let them go to somebody else

Nice to see this thread updated again

Glad to see you're still in the collecting game. You shouldn't have felt the need to explain your situation to everyone, and anyone ragging on you for selling your own property needs to get a life.

Thanks for the support, fellas--I appreciate it

Two new pickups to post today after being sick as a dog most of the week

Marvel finally got around to approving some pending commissions I had, so I got one in today and one should be coming in the next few days.

I asked Frank Kadar to base this one on the Ghost Rider #1 cover and he came up with this awesome update (bigger version here):

And I couldn't pass up a $15 sketch of the lovely Miss Scarlett by Gooney Toons

I'm also pleased to announce I had a little extra from my sales and was able to buy back two of the APs I didn't really want to sell. So, there's a little tease for next time...
