Can we stop calling the art on the cards sketches. They aren't sketches. They are finished completed ideas. They are drawings paintings illustrations, they are not sketches, unless it's a Sawyer or Shum.

Nope. And unless there are "sketch cards" AND "illustrated cards"* in the same set (which might be cool) there's really no reason to put the effort into changing the nomenclature. People know what's what and to pretend they need a label to differentiate just comes off as snobbery. The only people even remotely thrown by the idea are uninformed artists.

*Because, really, "art" could be anything and have completely unintended consequences to the idea of a hand drawn original.

Anyhow. Nice collection, Monkey

PSC, personal sketch cards. I use the word sketches to shorten down on sketch cards, whether they have art, blood, dirt, a few scribbles whatever may be on it it's the what I use on them. I'm not calling the work on the cards a few sketch lines like what would be on a shum etc. so I will continue to call them sketches cause I know my own definition and it is different to yours

Please, let's not ignite Non-Sport's version of the "tape on the toploader" debate in my sketch PC thread.

Agreed. I was looking at the your collection from the first few pages on again and some of the images seem to be unavailable and was wondering do you have a link to your full collection?

I had to delete my Photobucket account because they were annoying me, so that's why the images in the earlier posts don't work.

You can see my current collection here: SketchCollectors.com: Everything Sketch Cards

Picked up another piece of the last Robert Jimenez puzzle I have to completed. 2 pieces to go

Somewhat related to Mars Attacks--I traded my SP patch and SSP medallions to get this absolutely gorgeous card by Melike Acar. The scan doesn't do this one justice--for one thing the glittering gold effects are lost.

I've had my eye on that one for over a year. In fact, I just checked and I first messaged the seller about it on November 30th last year.

The card depicts Hanuman, who is a Hindu monkey god. While I do enjoy the monkey aspect of Hanuman, I received a figure of him many years ago and it has watched over me in every office I've worked in since.

Here's a quick summary:

Quote:
Hanuman, the mighty ape that aided Lord Rama in his expedition against evil forces, is one of the most popular idols in the Hindu pantheon. Believed to be an avatar of Lord Shiva, Hanuman is worshiped as a symbol of physical strength, perseverance and devotion. Hanuman's tale in the epic Ramayana - where he is assigned the responsibility to locate Rama's wife Sita abducted by Ravana, the demon king of Lanka — is known for its astounding ability to inspire and equip a reader with all the ingredients needed to face ordeals and conquer obstructions in the way of the world.
So, I turned two fake relics into a very awesome piece of art (and the other party did well with the fake relics too ).

Me like (sorry, had to do it ).

I'm still hoping to pull my first Acar. Or waiting for one of her Captain America sketches to come up at a decent price at auction.

I won one of Rinkwraith's contests and got an amazing sketch by Juan Rosales as the prize

The back had a little message from Juan

And Cousin Eddie is happy to be joining my collection

Haha! Glad you got the card, and I'm especially happy that it's found a place with a fan of the movie!

Picked up this Mars Attacks return from Tim Proctor

Got one more card incoming, but I'm taking a break for a little while. I've been thinking about the enjoyment I'm getting from new acquisitions versus money spent and it's not really adding up. There's a few things bumming me out about the hobby at the moment, but this isn't really the thread to get into that.

First, I have a mystery. I've been going through my stash to sell off my sports cards before the end of the year and ran across this sketch that got misplaced:

I don't know who the artist is or how I got it. So if someone here may have sent this to me as a gift, I really apologize for not acknowledging you.

Robert Jimenez (Zerostreet) was kind enough to send me one of his new promo cards and some stickers:

Oh and he included this freaking awesome Ghost Rider sketch as well

Last new card for a little while--I cannot get the colors on this Dawn PSC right at all, it's a real stunner in person.

If Veronica put out a book of her portraits, I'd buy it in a second. She's got those on lock.

As good as this looks in the picture, I can only imagine it looks a hell of a lot better in person!

Last addition for 2013. This time it's a bigger piece (9x12). Didn't intend to get anything else, but couldn't pass this up at Sara's price:

Is that Megan Fox as Dawn?
