Very cool, I read on the meteorite blog page they would be shipped "before the holidays" but didn't think it would be this soon.

Can't wait to see what meteorite I get, and make sure you post all of your stuff when it comes in!

Supposedly the Entomology redemptions are in the same state of shipping. Should be interesting to see what I get.

Just wondering if you received your redemptions yet. I had 4 each of the Entomology and meteorite redemptions. I received mine last Friday 11/9/2012. Pics are posted in baseball breaks thread. Just curious as to which meteorite card you got. I think they are pretty cool! Also love the Civil War relics. Hope you get something awesome!

Well I redeemd all 5 Civil War Relics hoping for a whole star from the flag, first 3 cards were two Union uniform buttons and a $5 Confederate note(sold them all) the last two arrived today and got a $20 Confederate note and a star! So happy! Card is about 5X7 and super thick, the glare hides a really interesting dark stain on the star

The Union Uniform buttons are worth $4.00-$10.00 a piece depending on the makers mark on the back and the condition. I'd be curious if they are just standard enlisted men infantry buttons with a waterbury stamping on the back. Stick them in a card and call them "limited" and I'm sure you can get much much more obviously.

The star is appalling and I will never forgive UD for cutting up a flag for this product, but then again I am only one person and I haven't bought their products for years.

The CS Script is a nice inclusion though

Have you seen the flag UD used? It was in really rough shape with a bunch of pieces already cut off. Here it is.

That's after they had already butchered some of it. A lot of the flag cards have parts of the red stripes in them ...I don't see that in this picture.

It doesn't matter the shape of a flag men literally died for 150 years ago. Even if it was just a garrison flag they had no right to cut it up to make a profit.

I don't mind them putting other relics in the shadowboxes like they did though, if they are indeed authentic.

That's pretty good idea, even if you can by an authentic infantry horn at a show for 25 dollars or buttons for less than half that.

Still cool cards to chase..but absolutely unforgivable what they did to the US Standard

Are these relics viewable from both sides of the card?

Look at the state of that flag (besides the picture doesn't show the entire thing). It's not a museum quality piece...

There are plenty of flags in museums that are of poorer quality. It's about the historical significance, not the appearance.

No, the back has a little description of what it is, etc.

Well in that case, I highly doubt this would be sought after by any museum. We wrongly equate old with historical. There can be old things that are not of value to ANYONE but put them in cards and us collectors pay a premium.

Well that's a bummer, especially on the Confederate note. I would assume those were printed on the backs as well? Sorry, I don't know anything about old money (or new money, for that matter ).

The backs of those bills were fairly plain. Basically a green ornate design of "TWENTY" with "20" on each corner. Here's an example of what the above would look like:

Also, back in the day following the war, CSA notes were worthless. So much so that if you read old timey literature you'll come across phrases like "ain't worth a Confederate nickel!" Which means it's pretty worthless. I think this note is super cool though!

It became so worthless that they wallpapered homes during the victorian era with it,,,
