How the hell can Beckett authenticate that ??? I'm sure they've seen so many of her autos that their experts. Give me a break. I hope that came like that and the seller didn't pay Beckett. Having some dork from Beckett tell me that auto is real means about as much to me as the guys who sell the "gold" chains on the Center City streets of Philly telling me about their fake chains.

I find that funny too...wonder why he didnt have it graded (yet states it would be a 9.5). Granted its a 1 of 1, but I'd think that rare of a card, if the condition was that good, I'd of had them slap a raw grade on it (which I presume they were doing at the national?)

I can't remember if I told you guys this story or not. Went to a show in Cincinnati in the early 90's and had Teddy Ballgame sign two baseballs. Held them for years and went to the National a couple years ago to get them authenticated. Spent $154.00 for PSA to tell me they were fakes. I was furious, and NO ONE from PSA would even talk to me other than the lackeys out front. Someone overheard me and said he was friends with Jim Spence, and that I could throw his name to him and Mr. Spence would look at the balls for free. I did this, and Jim glanced at them for two seconds and said he knew they were fake from the way the T looped or something. Now Jim was a very nice guy, and it was nice of him to do it for free (and I am not calling him out as a scam artist), BUT these authenticators have no clue what's real and what isn't real when I had the balls signed in my presence and find out from the "experts" that the autos were fake. Maybe they get 95% of them right, but the fact remains I know they don't get ALL of them right, and that makes them worthless to me. If this doesn't sour everyone on these auto experts, nothing will. I STILL can't get over it.

yet... you want to make sure your stuff isn't altered and want the same serial numbering and protection BGS offers. Why get Mother Teresa graded when it could get a 7.5... what are you comparing it against? Beckett dosen't authenticate the autograph, Topps did already (we guess)... it authenticates that it's not altered or a fake A&G card and protects it. I bought altered stuff on Ebay... it wasn't fun when Beckett sends it back saying black marker was dectected on a corner. ![]() |
