Star Wars fans looking to own a piece of the iconic story might get the chance.
For the first time, Topps is offering real Stars Wars relics in the upcoming 2013 Star Wars Jedi Legacy. The relics include Chewbacca hair, Ewok fur and Jabba the Huts barge sail.
Other relics feature original film cels from scenes throughout Episodes 4, 5 and 6 and there will be one in every box.
Some might find the fun to be in the autographs. Twenty actors spread throughout all six movies will sign cards for Stars Wars Jedi Legacy including Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.
Printing plates of base and inserts are also included collectors will get either an auto or printing plate in every box.

The base set will focus on the story of Luke and Anakin Skywalker with 45 cards focusing on each of the characters. The base cards will have Blue, Magenta, Green and rare Gold parallels.
In addition, there are 45 insert cards with Influencers, Connections and The Circle is Now Complete.
Telling the individual story is only part of Star Ways Jedi Legacy. Base cards from A (Anakin Skywalker) and base cards from B (Luke Skywalker) can be connected through the Connections or Influencer insert cards through colliding light sabers on the bottom of the card.
Topps looks to tell the full stories of their journeys.

The Circle is Now Complete die-cuts are the toughest insert to pull. These inserts fall at a rate of 1 in 12 packs. When complete, all 12 cards fit around a circle, and to get the piece that middle piece, collectors will take part of a yet unannounced store promotion.
Look for Stars Wars Jedi Legacy to come out May 22 and cost around $100 a box. There will be 24 packs per box and with eight cards in each pack. The product will be available in hobby shops only.
Hit rates:
Single Film Cel: 1 per box
Autographs: 1in every 3 boxes
Ewok Fur: 1 in 5 boxes
Double Film Cel: 1 in every 6 boxes
Triple Film Cel: 1 in every 6 boxes
Jabba Barge Sail: 1 in every 14 boxes
Printing Plates 1 in every 30 boxes
Chewbacca Hair: 1 in every 30 boxes

Interesting that there aren't any sketches. Was that expected?

The relics sound pretty cool, though :D

sdoug76 01-22-2013 01:04 PM

Why do the Ewoks have fur, but Chewie has hair?

Once again the Ewoks are insulted.

I'm excited about the relics!!!!!!!! :flex:

Would be cool if sketches were rare, like the Walking Dead ones. Maybe 2-3 per case.

Zerokruel 01-22-2013 01:35 PM

Those presses are always pumping.... Would be nice to see a couple more relics, since they are taking away the sketches and offering the $100 price point again. It might be good for the market to have a release with no sketches though.

Koppper 01-22-2013 02:00 PM

Ya giving sketches a set break might be the best bet, or suprise everyone with 1-2 sketches per case.

Zerokruel 01-22-2013 02:12 PM
Printing plates of base and inserts are also included collectors will get either an auto or printing plate in every box.
The odds must be wrong then, because they have printing plates at 1:30 boxes and autographs 1:3 boxes.

Tim 01-22-2013 02:14 PM

odds better be wrong because this is a BIG loser if those posted odds are accurate.

Nicnac 01-22-2013 02:29 PM

off topic but this year is the 30th anniversary of Jedi. I hope Topps has the 3di set coming out to complete the original trilogy!
The odds must be wrong then, because they have printing plates at 1:30 boxes and autographs 1:3 boxes.
Yeah, I think Beckett got it wrong. Looking at the odds, it looks like every box has a single film card, then one of the other hits (auto, dual/triple film, print plate, or relic card), since the odds on them add up to almost 30 hits per 30 boxes (10 autos, 5 dual film, 5 triple film, 6 ewok fur, 2.1 barge sail, 1 print plate, and 1 chewbacca hair).

Koppper 01-22-2013 02:52 PM

Ya rough odd for a $100 price point......hope their wrong as well.

AceGambit3 01-22-2013 07:40 PM

so 20 autos= 18 wtf do I want them for autos with Mark Hamill & Carrie Fisher.

You want to impress me Topps, get Natalie Portman, Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Christopher Lee and get Billy Dee & Ian McDiarmid for the first time in 12 years.

I do like the die cut card set though.

webjon 01-22-2013 10:58 PM

Actually this isn't the first time Topps produced a Star Wars relic card -- for those unaware.

Chuck Fan 01-23-2013 12:21 AM

I would like to see the autos that AceGambit3 mentioned as well as a Samuel L. Jackson auto. A Natalie Portman auto was be awesome.

jadams 01-23-2013 09:57 AM

No art for this set.

Ronin 01-23-2013 11:22 AM

I wonder why no sketches this time around.

I would want the 18 wtf autos, I'm a Star Wars fan. Of course I'd like to see the other huge names you listed, but their omission doesn't make this bad. 20 signers is, I believe, the biggest Star Wars auto lineup in a set since Evolution.
Also, why no relics from episodes 1-3?
The Chewbacca hair could be from the prequels.

Ronin 01-23-2013 01:43 PM
The Chewbacca hair could be from the prequels.
You're right. Still, I find the relics and autos a bit lackluster.

I saw this really cool rising sun at at sketch on ebay a while back. Got into a bit of a bidding war for it. I regret not bidding more, as I would have loved to have it in my personal star wars collection ;)

natbornkiller 01-23-2013 01:49 PM

While i am happy they are finally adding memos
i would rather see wider range of stuff other than fur and jabbas barge (they can make millions of cards with one piece of scrap metal

dd316 01-23-2013 02:18 PM

I agree, I wish there were more different relics, but at least this is a start. I've seen small chunks of the Death Star that sell for around $1500-$2000. Topps could produce quite a few cards from the one small piece. Even really tiny pieces of this would make collectors salivate.

:)!

Alanjai 01-23-2013 02:23 PM

I would love to see more, but I really like this.. The last store wars set that I busted a lot was aotc widevision. For somebody who loves Star Wars.. And my first cases ever was walking dead s2.. Do you see this as a few case worthy since I'm in the case rush??

baytowntex 01-24-2013 02:39 AM

cool.........im glad there is no sketches....I would like to see the full list of signers..relics are going to be epic also.. good lookin Webjon, ive never seen those...I wonder if it will say property of Disney in fine print on the back of the cards or anywhere on the product

Ronin 01-24-2013 06:48 AM

are there any chances they will add to this sets chase cards, and/or change the current per box/case ratio? also how soon before the release can/will companies make those types of changes?
