First look: 2013 Topps Stars Wars Jedi Legacy
Jan 22nd 2013, 16:52 ![]() By Susan Lulgjuraj | Beckett Sports Card Monthly Editor Star Wars fans looking to own a piece of the iconic story might get the chance. For the first time, Topps is offering real Stars Wars relics in the upcoming 2013 Star Wars Jedi Legacy. The relics include Chewbacca hair, Ewok fur and Jabba the Hut’s barge sail. Other relics feature original film cels from scenes throughout Episodes 4, 5 and 6 – and there will be one in every box. Some might find the fun to be in the autographs. Twenty actors spread throughout all six movies will sign cards for Stars Wars Jedi Legacy including Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. Printing plates of base and inserts are also included collectors will get either an auto or printing plate in every box. ![]() The base set will focus on the story of Luke and Anakin Skywalker with 45 cards focusing on each of the characters. The base cards will have Blue, Magenta, Green and rare Gold parallels. In addition, there are 45 insert cards with Influencers, Connections and The Circle is Now Complete. Telling the individual story is only part of Star Ways Jedi Legacy. Base cards from “A” (Anakin Skywalker) and base cards from “B” (Luke Skywalker) can be connected through the Connections or Influencer insert cards through colliding light sabers on the bottom of the card. Topps looks to tell the full stories of their journeys. ![]() The Circle is Now Complete die-cuts are the toughest insert to pull. These inserts fall at a rate of 1 in 12 packs. When complete, all 12 cards fit around a circle, and to get the piece that middle piece, collectors will take part of a yet unannounced store promotion. Look for Stars Wars Jedi Legacy to come out May 22 and cost around $100 a box. There will be 24 packs per box and with eight cards in each pack. The product will be available in hobby shops only. Hit rates: Single Film Cel: 1 per box Autographs: 1in every 3 boxes Ewok Fur: 1 in 5 boxes Double Film Cel: 1 in every 6 boxes Triple Film Cel: 1 in every 6 boxes Jabba Barge Sail: 1 in every 14 boxes Printing Plates 1 in every 30 boxes Chewbacca Hair: 1 in every 30 boxes Beckett News First look: 2013 Topps Stars Wars Jedi Legacy

Interesting that there aren't any sketches. Was that expected?
The relics sound pretty cool, though

![]() Would be cool if sketches were rare, like the Walking Dead ones. Maybe 2-3 per case.

Those presses are always pumping.... Would be nice to see a couple more relics, since they are taking away the sketches and offering the $100 price point again. It might be good for the market to have a release with no sketches though.

Ya giving sketches a set break might be the best bet, or suprise everyone with 1-2 sketches per case.

Yeah, I think Beckett got it wrong. Looking at the odds, it looks like every box has a single film card, then one of the other hits (auto, dual/triple film, print plate, or relic card), since the odds on them add up to almost 30 hits per 30 boxes (10 autos, 5 dual film, 5 triple film, 6 ewok fur, 2.1 barge sail, 1 print plate, and 1 chewbacca hair).

so 20 autos= 18 wtf do I want them for autos with Mark Hamill & Carrie Fisher.
You want to impress me Topps, get Natalie Portman, Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Christopher Lee and get Billy Dee & Ian McDiarmid for the first time in 12 years. I do like the die cut card set though.

The Chewbacca hair could be from the prequels.

You're right. Still, I find the relics and autos a bit lackluster.
I saw this really cool rising sun at at sketch on ebay a while back. Got into a bit of a bidding war for it. I regret not bidding more, as I would have loved to have it in my personal star wars collection

I agree, I wish there were more different relics, but at least this is a start. I've seen small chunks of the Death Star that sell for around $1500-$2000. Topps could produce quite a few cards from the one small piece. Even really tiny pieces of this would make collectors salivate.
