Default Heroes shipping questions...everyone come in

We all know by now that Heroes has a big world wide following and that being said it would be wise to open bids worldwide. I know some of you are very experienced dealing with worldwide listings. I guess my questions are:

1) Do you guys think it is a good idea to ship worldwide?
2) With the potential price of big hits how will you guys do it?
3) How many of you are going to do it?

I think anything expensive should be shipped UPS (shameless plug). All joking aside a service with tracking must be used. I plan on putting a must read in my auction thread for items above a certain value. All advice/comments welcome.

I see a lot of collectors on other forums that are in Europe so I'll offer Global Priority on any decent priced autos, costumes or sketches. I won't offer any low priced cards or sets.

I'll also think up some disclaimer so that I can offer over seas sales to people with decent feedback only. Besides other feelings I get from experience, one tip is to see how long the bidder has been registered and has he/she gotten consistently good feedback.

It's still a gamble but I've never had a problem with Taiwan, Japan, Germany (stationed U.S. Troops) or the U.K.

I don't expect tracking to help in foreign countries. Realistically it will cost more in time and effort to deal with that.

IMHO,
Vinny
PS: I haven't done a ton of it but enough through my 10 years on eBay

I would probably use UPS and bite the bullet for the extra costs if I sold a high dollar card to an international buyer. They actually provide online tracking on a daily basis so you know exactly where the package is and you can even get signature confirmation. You can request and pay for signature confirmation on USPS international mail but as the Postmaster at my local office told me - that doesn't guarantee that the postal system in the other country will actually have the person sign for the package. I've had more problems recently with shipments in the US. For example, mailed 14 packages w/DC on Dec 18th, 10 arrived at their destination by Dec 24th, 1 on Jan 4th, 1 on Jan 9th, 1 Jan 11th and the last one is lost somewhere in the Postal system even putting a trace on the package turned up nothing. Since the person who bought the one that is lost is a very good repeat customer, I refunded his money even though it was not insured.

I would just use usps and hope that they are a honest buyer. It is only a $40 box, so charge say $15-20 for shipping (depending on the country) and ship it first class international which will cost anywhere from $5-15.
