New Pawn Stars Will Have A George Washington Hair Card

I wonder if it'll be an Allen&Ginter or Upper Deck, and what they'll offer. We'll see Monday night..

The Madbacker 01-27-2013 11:54 PM

Don't worry, Rick will have a buddy who will know all about it. Most likely the sports memorabilia putz who just recites whatever he read on Wikipedia about said subject.

Commence with posting of Rick meme's...

what is the DNA going to tell you exactly? That it matches other hair believed to belong to Washington?

Cactuspies 01-28-2013 12:48 AM

rick was on one of those talking head shows this morning (maybe a repeat) and he was pimping & wearing "his" Patriots Ring. I stopped watching that show, way too scripted after the first season and some of those "experts" blah
what is the DNA going to tell you exactly? That it matches other hair believed to belong to Washington?
so basically you would not like any proof or any type of evidence

Ronin 01-28-2013 01:58 AM

this is getting rediculous. what's next.. christ's toenail clippings?

i just was made aware of a card called leaf cut signature, a sports company producing cards with autographs of non sports players. call me cynical, but can't you get some of these same autos for cheaper on ebay or on other sites, and with certs..?

I plan on busting a case of the first cut sig product to include a God/Satan dual.

I don't have cable so I don't know how this went but I'd guess it went something like:

Pawn Clerk: "Well, it's priceless so ... the best I can do is $55."
Customer: "Hmmm, I was thinking more like ... $1,000."
Pawn Clerk: "Look, that doesn't leave much room for me to make a profit. And, honestly, I don't get a lot of people coming through here looking for George Washington's hair. Statistically speaking, if this was Mao Zedong's hair I'd probably have an easier time finding a buyer. I mean, there's a billion more Chinese people on Earth than Americans ... so ... $55 is firm."
Customer: "Hmmm, well, I really need some more money for my mother's triple bypass ... could you at least come up a little bit and give me, say, $65."
Pawn Clerk: "I'll meet ya halfway: $60."
Customer: "That's the casino, right there, out this window?"
Pawn Clerk: "Yeah, it's literally ten steps away. Sorry that's confusing. We're putting in a hamster-like tunnel so people know where to go and can stay away from fresh air."
Customer: "Okay, deal."

I wonder if Rick will file an item not as described claim? It is a card and he can be somewhat of a scammer (it is a pawn shop in Las Vegas after all).

DNA is only found in the root or skin tag. Most hair that is bought and sold do not contain this.

monkeymcgee 01-28-2013 03:36 PM

I'd love to see peekaboo go on the show with a card and his scissors. When Rick lowballs him, he'd cut up the card and throw the pieces up in the air.

good luck finding a certificate that actually states the proof

well where is the proof? there is none?

hitman1116 01-28-2013 09:55 PM

I will say this, the guys at Pawn Stars seem a lot more fair then the people at Hardcore Pawn. I mean those guys just love to rob people blind.

aggie4ever 01-28-2013 10:42 PM
well where is the proof? there is none?
The proof comes from the provenance of who the hair came from. Here's a link to a story on the Wall Street Journal talking about where they got the hair from, and what kind of provenance he had:

Winner By a Hair: Collectors Wooed With a Bit of Abe Lincoln - WSJ.com

Looks like most of the provenance is in the form of notarized letters from physicians/morticians who were last with the person and who gathered a lock of hair.

Pawn Stars is real and Hardcore Pawn is ridiculously scripted. Nothing on TruTv is true or real. Hardcore Pawn, Operation Repo, etc etc all scripted to the point of where it's not even believable at all.

I used to just watch hardcore pawn to get a laugh at how fake it was..but I stopped watching when a dude brought in a VHS player with aluminum foil on it and said it was an alien transmitter used to talk to them. Was just too much at that point.

I actually got to meet Rick and Chumlee when they came to south Florida a few years ago. Really cool guys in person as they are on the show.
