Are people really that interested in the retail packs, just for a slight chance at a redemption card? That seems like a really bad bet to me, you buy a 24 pack box at Walmart, and you have a 60% chance at not hitting anything. Good luck if you try it though, I would like to see some redemptions hit.

Completely 100% agree.

Let me break it down for you guys: I just sold 2x boxes to a customer and her breakdown per pack is $2.91 and no tax. The retail packs will be either $3.99 or $4.99 per pack (Bbt was $4.99 out here). Plus tax!!

I do wish you guys luck, but I'm happy to stick with hobby and maybe try 1-2 packs of retail. It's the same thing with the sports blasters vs hobby. In the end, hobby will win out. I do like the new redemptions, so hope one of you guys hit one.

So, not worth the investment, eh? I just thought it would have been good to hold on a few for when they sell out as I notice Series 1 folks pay triple+ on eBay for them now per pack.

I'll probably buy 5-10 retail packs. They won't have retail boxes. And it won't be just for the redemptions. You'll still be able to land chase cards.

First, I never think of cards as "investments". Never ever. I have my pc collection, and yes I do hope they retain value, or even go up. Magic cards certainly do this. But for cards I always think of "fun" first and foremost.

Not sure why BO says that. On Crypto's site it still says, Release Date: 06.05.2013

I have no idea why Blowout would do that, release date is still June 5th.

So, we broke a case of this product yesterday at my shop. Here are my thoughts: The sketch quality is infinitely better in this release than in series 1. The parallels are much nicer this time around. I do like the mini-books from the last set better than the other insert set of this though. We pulled a Nina Edlund, and all I can say is . We hit Adlard's auto + puzzle sketch in the very last box of the case. Yup loaded box. No redemption.

I still wish Crypto would add original comic pages as part of their redemption sets, but I understand why I guess. Overall was very very happy with the product.

Also, someone mentioned binders in a previous post. I'm not sure if 350 binders are a lot or not, doesn't seem it to me though. They are very nice.

Considering I'm biased anyways towards the set (Love WD), I give it a B+/A-. I wanted to add: I do realize that the sketch card market is *soft* right now. I will not guess as to how these will sell. I think the collectors out there will absolutely love this product tho.

I'd love to host a group case break on here for this product. That would be a fun break

I'm sure we will see scans on the release date, but probably not before.

Well, some parts of the sketch card market are soft, but on some products the prices are very strong, like Spellcasters and Bombshells. I think only the oversaturated products like some of the Marvel products are hurting, or products that didn't really catch on with collectors, like Transformers.

But I think the Walking Dead sketches will sell pretty well, probably a bit less than last year since there's more WD sketches on the market currently, but I think the collector base is pretty big. Also, nice art will always sell well, so I'm glad to hear the quality of the sketches seems to be better this year.

okay, so, the crypto website says 51 redemptions...does anyone know if these relate to just the Hobby release or include the 25 slated for Retail? Crossing my fingers till they break I pull one in my 3 cases....

Walmarts will have local distributors that fill their shelves for most trading card type stuff (same goes with MTG and YGO). There will be a lot of variance in when these actually hit the shelves (if they'll actually be showing up in a given store or not).
