She has appeared quite often over the past two years thanks to Bendis. She just showed up in the Age of Ultron last month.

She was HUGE in 2011: http://sketchcardsaloon.com/2011/12/...greatest-hits/ Now Marvel is gearing her up for something big...

It is something completely different, but I honor my NDA's so I can't tell you until it happens!

Fear me.

While we are fearing me, I have one thing I want to share here at Blowout. Last week my wife and I taught a Spring Break Art Camp at the University of Miami. Chris Bosh's wife visited us one afternoon to deliver Easter cupcakes, and we took a hilarious group photo. Then one of our students did a drawing of the event.

Very good times.

Now that I think about it, I would like to sincerely thank Roy for telling us about this. It is indeed a cause for celebration. Squirrel Girl will now be legendary!

I honestly LOVE the idea of no more Rittenhouse Squirrel Girl sketch cards, that makes my collection even more unique.

She is not just another stupid character, in reality. She is Marvel's most powerful single hero, in official continuity. She has never been defeated.

She was just released in the Super Hero Squad Online game, and they are preparing her for some very special things in the near future.

Life is good.

Some say she's Marvel's most powerful single hero but I think that ...

She did appear in a real Marvel cartoon once, now that you mention it...

Sorry, I had to.
You really don't like squirrels do you. And squirrel is quite tasty when prepared properly.

Right, "prepared properly" is so subjective. Given a full spice cabinet you can make anything taste good. I'm sure if you boiled it and served it in pho it'd taste delicious. There's a lot of other meat I prefer like rattlesnake and alligator (quite awesome actually).

I've cleaned and skinned them -- and the big fat forest squirrels too. The best part about them is that they often have a pouch of half chewed nuts with saliva below their jaw.

Ah, how my life has changed ...

My opinion: The only good squirrel is the one hanging from a bird of prey's talons otherwise they're pests that are rife with disease and live only to ruin. Much like nearly every other member of rodentia.

I think we have the next Viceroy product: RODENTIA

Boil 'em! Mash 'em! Stick 'em in a stew!

The dogs were chewing on a squirrel yesterday. Wife said it looked like it was well skinned and cleaned ready for cooking.

It seems like an odd thing to cover in the NDA. What if I were to ask for an Artist Proof card featuring Squirrel Girl. "Sorry, I cannot do that and I cannot tell you why." It very well may be covered, but characters that cannot be drawn on the cards seems like a terrible thing to keep a secret. Especially since I expect there to be many requests for a Squirrel Girl vs Doctor Doom AP from Marvel's Greatest Battles That was a legendary one, right?

Though there are many parts of the contract that are forever offlimits, the language generally states that this kind of thing can't be talked about until [insert circumstances here]. For DC sets, for instance, you can't release the approved character list until the AD gives permission for posting artist lists and samples. Sometimes it's when the set's released.

The only time I even worry about whether it's IN the contract or not is when the APs are to be completed at the same time as the set cards, which is happening more and more often. I get that companies don't want to have to be available for approvals ad infinitum, but getting commissions for nondisclosed characters on APs we can't even tell people we have is... um. Yeah.

I don't think this is part of the NDA, it's more of a do not do this or that Just like every RA set i've done there is a requirement about smoking big boobs bikinis and swastika's. Kinda like the Howard the duck has to wear pants thing. What Marvel Disney will do with the characters they own really doesn't effect card art. This requirement is more on the lines of no more Chibi's and draw or add some sort of background. It's just live and learn sorta stuff. Gotta bet dealers were ticked at having all these stupid SG cards they couldn't sell. My money's on dealer and reseller complaints. Same with the Chibi thing.

Squirrel Girl sold pretty well. Slightly above average for a 'female sketch' from my experience when breaking 3-6 cases (each set) of Rittenhouse in 2009-2012.

There's a grand total of TWO SG sketches right now that I see on eBay.

Anecdotal stories aren't complete. But Like I said who knows why RA doesn't want the character done anymore, may be what others have guessed.
