Why make rules if you aren't going to enforce them?

I checked through Marv Masters stuff this morning really quick. Didn't go through the completed listings, but wasn't super impressed by what I saw listed. Obviously still a lot of artists to go up. I have to say, I thought the prices were a bit higher than I expected...

They have a rule about not disclosing information about the sets, but this thread would not even exist if they enforced their NDAs!!!

Looking through Irma Ahmed's other cards, I see that she did a whole series of bright yellow orange treatments of other characters too. So the colors are not neccesarily an alternate outfit, more like a warm glow.

Hotness.

Based on the eBay mobile app, only 56 sketches from MGB have sold so far. I don't remember exactly how Bronze Age went, but I know I had purchased about 20 myself by this time

Remember, Marvel Masters on ebay splits his sale into three parts. We have only seen one third of his haul, and we get to party two more nights at midnight!

Yeah, I saw a post on Scoundrel about Marv-Masters listing items at 9pm PST for the next few nights.

Crappy scans make the art look muddy and not at all appealing. When will these people learn.

I'll let you and Monkey argue about that one... but what I will say is just because the asking price is high doesn't mean the selling price will be. And when I said higher than I expected, I meant higher than I expected. Figure the average single card for MBA was listed at $60 which is approximate box price. The average card for this set was listed above the $90 box price. I doubt all those $120 puzzles will sell for more than $60. They just aren't that great.

Hey hey hey you watch your tongue yungunn. At least one of mine sold for the asking price of 124.99. Methinks buyers are conflicted. But overall the scans don't do the good artwork justice and the average art just looks like muddied messes.

I would consider most of your sketches "above average" at worst. Just look at the other cards priced at $124.99 and tell me they are of the same caliber? Anyway, it looks like a good deal of last nights stuff was priced more around the $90 range which is probably more reasonable. I was a bit surprised, I saw a couple Magno's at $50 that surprised me. I know Magno isn't super popular, but he is doing decent sketches of full scenes that I thought were better than a lot of $75-$90 cards.

I think part of the issue is the number of new artists that the sellers aren't sure where to price them.

2 days in and still no sketches for me. I have seen a couple GR sketches I like at least now, but not for the asking price.

And this is what happens when you don't put overlap in your puzzles

Marvel Greatest Battles Alfredo Lopez Jr Sketch Card | eBay

I guess they should be numbered for the artistically impared sellers

I'm on board with you Monkey... I put a handful of stuff on my watch list but I'm at least waiting until the weekend. I don't have a ton to spend on this set so I want to wait until Marv Masters is done posting to decide what I want to buy (if anything). There is one sketch I really liked, but it is out of my price range.

Good change to pick up a Glebe though... besides a few, those seem to be priced lower than I would have expected.

Ah, Iron Man and Captain America aren't fighting, they're playing Marco Polo... poorly.

They should be reversed with cap on the udder side. I just sent a few messages to the sellers about scan quality. How in the world can you be in sales and represent your product so poorly. Just a few clicks in photoshop or imageready and you have nice bright sharp colorful scans.

As the fabulous Meghan Hetrick retires from sketch cards, I think we should take a moment to appreciate perhaps the greatest single talent that this hobby will ever see.

I honestly don't think there has ever been a better sketch card artist, and I will be amazed if anyone can ever equal what she accomplished over the last few years. Her skills are truly incredible in such small spaces, and I will be sad to see her move on.

Thank you so much Meghan, for being here and sharing your life with us. We will never forget you.

You know she's furious with you for calling her a drama queen the last time her intention to leave cards came up here, right? The mild hypocrisy has been amusing me since you posted this same thing on Scoundrel, though.

Yep, I figured that out pretty quickly when she started attacking on Scoundrel.

There is no hypocrisy at all, however, in my sentiments. I love her work, I think she is the best sketch card artist ever, and I think she is a drama queen. No problem.

I am a drama queen too, obviously, so I don't consider it an insult!

Rian tends to have a bad habit of calling people names when they do or say something he doesn't agree with. And then he'll talk to them as if he never said anything bad about them. He also likes to always give overkill praises to artists he admires. Each card he showcase is the best ever until his next card post.
