Default David Rabbitte's Art Thread

Hi folks,

First time posting here. I figured the best way to start is by posting some of my latest sketch cards...I did a few for Viceroy's Space! card set, only 5 to be exact. I was a last minute addition so I didn't have time to do more. Most people know me for my Star Wars art, but I like to deviate once in a while and do other themes.

Without further ado, here are my 5 cards...

Nice. Could you post some of the other stuff you've done from SW and Marvel when you get a chance?

i really like the style you use on those full color cards. the IM2 cards are all really great, but that Han Solo & Boba Fett is my favorite of the lot

David: Have you ever done a Ghost Rider sketch? Based on these samples, I'd love to see your version.

Hi Monkeymcgee, I drew at least one sketch of Ghost Rider (in pencil only) for Marvel Masterpieces 3. Never painted him, but he'd be a fun one to do!

Sushiyoshi, thanks!

Rambel, yes I remember doing that for you. I think I did it around 2008/2009?

Cool, Spider-Fan. I saw that card was up on ebay for a while. Glad it found a good home!

Spacefanmick, yes those 5 cards will be found in packs. I have 3 blank AP's available. I'll send you a pm.

Hi guys,

Here are a few of the cards I drew for Cryptozoic's Superman:The Legend. I did 100 total for the set.

I couldn't use my paint style as we were told not to use materials which may cause the cards to bow. My artist proofs are another matter though, (which just arrived yesterday) I will be painting them more in the style like my DC 52 AP's shown below.

The best way to get rid of bowing from paints is to lay all the cards artside down on a flat surface on top of clean sheets of paper. take a bunch of clean sheets of paper and dampen them with a sponge, dampen them all over. lay the damp sheets over the cards then place some flat heavy objects on top. like books or anything smooth but flat and heavy. let them sit like that for about 1-2 hours. The cards will be as flat as when you got them Do not remove the weights until the cards and dampened sheets of paper are dry or they will bow right back. I do this with all my cards including the last two Cryptozoic sets. Works every time, just make sure the sheet of paper are damp not soaking wet.

Ah ok, thank you! I did try some experiments to get rid of the bowing but they didn't work. That's great to know. I definitely try that out your idea next time.

Mickey, thanks! The remaining 2 cards are in the mail and on their way to you!

After seeing some of David's stuff, I reached out about some PSC commissions. The cards arrived yesterday and I'm very pleased. David was great to work with and I highly recommend him, if you enjoy his style.
