Default Breygent Transformers

Anyone picking this up?

Quote:
Stewart Sargent, President of Breygent Marketing

We caught up with Stewart Sargent, President of Breygent Marketing, and asked him about the company’s Q4 releases.

Have you done Transformers before?
No, it’s going to be the first Transformers collector card set ever done. We have five different costumes, one prop, we have a lot of autographs including Leonard Nimoy, and it’ll be a 72-card base set.
The art is from all the movies and G1.

What’s the prop card?
It’s a tire, which will be cut up and put into the cards.

So it’s all memorabilia cards.
Exactly.
Those will be $60-$65 a collector’s box.
So you get the full 72-card set, you get a bunch of the chase cards, usually nine different chase cards. You get two hits, which is a costume or a prop or an autograph.

So you don’t do old fashioned packs?
We’ve moved away from all of that so people don’t have to rip open all the packs and we can guarantee with each set that you’re going to get so many hits, whether it’s two hits or four hits.
So there’s randomness with the chase cards. You’re guaranteed the full set and you’re guaranteed so many hits per box without having to open 30 packs to find them.

How long have you been doing that?
We’ve done it for the last year. We’ve done it with Red Sonja and two sets of Vampirella.

What’s the reaction been like?
We believe the collectors like it better. The small shops, of which there seem to be fewer and fewer, don’t like it because they can’t pack it out. That’s the down side, but for the average collector, they’re always looking for the big money cards and we can guarantee that they’ll get those big money cards in the deck.
At least 2 hits per box.

and yet still no official checklist..........or really anything other than what was found in those mystery packs. Come on Breygent, some info into what you're actually presenting us goes a long way towards deciding whether or not we're gonna buy or not.

Wish Breygent, Topps, and UD would be more forthcoming with their products like Cryptozoic is.

Yea I'm surprised its only a little over a month away from release and there's not more solid info

I can't believe this set hasn't released already! I just assumed it had when they packed stuff in those NYCC mystery packs. How peculiar to pack 'extra' stuff out and sell it over 6 months before the actual set releases...

beyond amazing. My cards will pale nearly translucent compared to some of the cards on this set. Not a huge transformers fan so wasn't that enthused about drawing them.

Post some of your samples up anyway. Let the collectors decide if their cool or not.

I would but I don't know if they were approved. I may have none approved or a few. So until I know....

Tom has stated over on NSU that all the details on the set will be coming out sometime this week. He has been steadily posting sketch card scans over there as well.

I'm going to be ordering some for sure

This is a set that I've been waiting for for a long time. I pre-ordered a box from SolarFly Cards. Now I have Game of Thrones Season 2 and Transformers boxes coming in back-to-back weeks at the end of May.

For those who aren't NSU members, Tom Breyer posted some more sketches today as well as scans of some inserts and the packs. Based on the odds on the packs a 12 box case will breakdown like this

8 Relics
9-10 Autos
13-14 Sketches
4 Comic Panels

36 hits Per Case. 3 Hits per Box. He also said this will be a very limited product. Only 3000 boxes/250 Cases. By comparison I believe Walking Dead is well over double that, and most Rittenhouse Products are nearly (or more than) triple that. I can't wait to find out the signers, and what costumes they got. I believe he said they only got 6 costumes, but hey if one of them was worn by Megan Fox then no complaints here.

I pushed Tom into doing a base set of : 59 base cards of Megan Fox, and 1 of Optimus Prime. Also a *Kiss* card (much like benchwarmers) from Fox, but alas... no can do. lol

In all seriousness, I've had a lot of orders come in for this and I think it's a real winner! I'm busting a case myself as well!! Also, if ANY incentives are given, I always share with my peeps!

I have been hounding my distributor and Tom for info for a while as I have a major Transformers collector. The only drawback for me is that they are going back to traditional packs. As a dealer, I REALLY like the "set box" format that they used for Vampirella, Red Sonja, Warlord of Mars and Deadworld as there is no sorting of base cards and they come in their own little display box.

I'm debating about picking up 2-3 boxes. I just don't like how it's so under the radar so far. And I have yet to see the third movie :/

If I do get some boxes I better pull an amazing sketch like that of Gary's

I've got 12 cases on order. Think the set will do well. The low production on it really does help in the long run.
