Cheaper then the Basketball and Football releases. Still pretty expensive though.

Your numbers are off. You get 20 packs in a box for around $200.

6 boxes per case
2 inners per box
10 packs per inner
5 cards per pack

Yeah yeah... My bad. Going off memory. I wrote the open post almost 2 months ago. All the info is there.

Man I just don't see the value in this product yet.

How much are they making?

If there were 50 cases being made, maybe but I think there will be a lot of this stuff made.

I expect these to be very strong - have you seen base card prices lately for Marvel Premier? I do not expect the sketches to be anything special, but the inserts will carry this product.

Thats a bit of a mixed bag-- as some have dropped (especially wolverine)- since I picked up mine to complete my set...

And the fact that it took 5 months to sell my Apocalypse card-- for a grand total of 6.00..

Although it does make me wonder what my complete set would go for..

Im sure this set will have some hits and misses as well.

Guess that retirement was short-lived with this and the IDW cards. That will be a good boost for pre-sales, though.

I haven't worked with Upperdeck in quite some time but I contributed some cards to this set. Here is an example of what I contributed. 60 base sketch cards and 40 random regular sketch cards. I had some fun on the regular ones and drew some characters like Spider-ham that go no love from people. Hope you guys enjoy! Got some approvals for cards today, so I wanted to show some.

Nice sketches, Rich. Thanks for sharing, but wow--those sketch frames and character names are not attractive to me.

Nice sketches, but I agree with monkey that other than the sketch, the card is incredibly ugly.

It's themed on the 90's sets, remember?

I dig it, just because of that. Makes me want to pull out all of my old Marvel cards and look at them.

At least on the front, I prefer as little design as possible for the sketch cards to give the artists plenty of room. I thought Premier was pushing the limits in that regard.

I didn't collect comic cards in the 90s, so I fully realize I'm not the target market here. Just speaking as a sketch collector

The 90's were great. Pulling a foil insert made you the envy of all the other kids in the card shop. But pulling a holofoil, hologram or prism was epic. Anyone remember the Punisher set with the scratch n' sniff inserts that smelt like gun powder? The good ole days.

I love the card backs and the retro look with all the power ratings and what not. That was one of my favorite things about the cards. I'm on board with Monkey and others though - the card front sucks. I get that its a retro set, but they could have achieve a retro look without so much print. I think the Marvel insignia and character name on this 1992 Marvel Universe card would have been more than enough.

I hate that much print on sketch cards and far to many releases incorporate way to much on the front of the card. It takes away from the art and its a total turn off.

Heads up on the sketch cards for this set.....there will be 2 variations of them. The sketch cards with pre-printed names and stats on the backs are going to be considered "base variants" and will be 1:20. The standard sketch cards that don't have the stats on the back or pre-printed character names will be the rarer of the sketches at 1:44.

Interesting twist--thanks for the head's up!

BTW, I loved the work you did on Premier

So this is still supposed to release this week right? Who is planning to buy some of these? I think I would like to try one if my LCS gets it in but it's seems fairly high at around $200 a box. Maybe the sketches will blow everyone away like Marvel Premier did last year??

I was thinking about picking up some singles, but the sketch design really turned me off. I'll have to see what they look like when they hit the street, but right now I'm passing.

If I was still selling, I'd consider getting a couple of boxes, but I really only care about sketches and the rest would be too hard to move via trade.

Have to disagree on this post - I think the inserts (much like MP) will bring the money this go-round. PMG and Jambalaya will lead the way.

And there are two sketch designs: the busy one (not appealing - comparable to MP hinged) and the alternate one (more comparable to base sketches in MP).

We shall see but I am expecting good things here, especially from the inserts!
