Plus there are a few who committed to a very limited amount but are also BIG names, so I don't want to get peoples hopes up.

Good idea, though.
I'm sure when you get a final listing we'll see it. Thanks.

Did you ever work out the Original 1962 Card Inserts: stamped or not?

Being an avid video-gamer, and having provided consultation over the years for several video game production companies, I suggested to a Topps executive three years ago that Topps might wish to consider creating a first-/second-/third-person shooter video game for Mars Attacks. The brand is a natural for such a product, if done right.

I'd even include special edition Mars Attacks cards in each game box to enhance cross-over appeal from card collectors.

I'm dying to play just such a game! It's on my bucket list. C'mon guys! Just do it already!

That's a really good idea! I would love a Mars Attacks video game. Maybe even a Call of Duty: Mars Attacks edition

Oh, YEAH! That would be sweet! Enough of the special ops guys chasing down rogue paramilitary/ex-military/terrorist scumbags. The Martians want the whole frickin' planet, we're all in the way, and they're playing for keeps!

Didn't the movie action figures come with video games on floppy discs?

Alvin - hoping that you can secure a small amount of promo cards to send to your buddies on this forum.

Also, a request to the artists here to maybe make a sketch card paying homage to Big Daddy Roth / Rat Fink -

Brent Engstrom did a lot of those for Star Wars. I'm not sure if he's on this set, but to me he already owns that parody.

Doesn't seem likely, but it would be cool to run into Tim at NYCC.

Floss... Check. See you in NY It would be awesome to catch up with you at NYCC, especially since you can't make the Philly NSCS. Other priorities.. I get it. Negotiate for Alvin to put you up in Artist Alley. Then you can sell some "Martians hit Manhatten" prints Or Topps could just approve you to sell them at the booth

Aaahhh, video games! Now you're talking my language. My actual job at Topps is in licensing and so what I do is find partners to make other products. So I made things like the comic book, the toys and even the Stan Lee card happen.

And video games is HIGH on my list.

The issue is that licensed video games are dying, unless you're big brand like Marvel, Star Wars, Transformers, etc.

I'm focusing my efforts instead on mobile and social games, which are far less expensive to produce (yet still upwards of a million in development costs). They're also a lot more likely to be successful too, because these categories are on the rise and growing with consumers, rather than the decline like console games.

Patzee, as for the 1962 buybacks, I believe we ARE stamping them.

That card is ok but it has one fatal flaw, it's not in my collection.

How about if I send a small stack to Rudy and let him handle fulfillment? I'd be okay with that.

That is very cool! Pity I am in New Zealand so won't have any shot at getting one of these unless they pop up on ebay (hopefully they will!)

Here's another batch from an artist new to sketch cards. Her name is El Gato Gomez, and she specializes in 1950s style space age pop illustrations.

I love El Gato Gomez's work! We've know each other and have been in several gallery shows together for a couple of years now. We're excited to both be working on this together.

50th Anniversary?

I'm pretty sure that 2013 is not the 50th anniversary of 1962.

No one is claiming otherwise, unless there's a typo somewhere. 2012 when Topps release MA Heritage was the 50th Anniversary.

EDIT: I didn't realize you're responding to the article cited at the beginning of this topic. That's funny, he does say for the 50th! I guess a little math never dawned on him!

Tomorrow I'll be asking for permission to post at least an additional 24 color sketch cards for this series -- including two more four-card puzzles. At this pace, I just may be able to do a total of 60-70 in color -- maybe more.
