Please correct me if I am mistaken.
Not sure how many retail boxes were made? My understanding there is not going to be any retail with Invasion.
5000 was just a number. Cut that in half and a loaded sketch pack is still 1 in 10,000 (you better be darn lucky). I don't know if loaded packs are in Hobby only though so if they are then that is cool as I was factoring in retail plus hobby.

Regarding Heritage, my understanding and experience is that many cases had just 1 gold per case and if you add in retail that was in plenty of chain stores like Target etc. I didn't think 5000 cases was a stretch. If that is true that there is not going to be any retail with Invasion then that would certainly impact things. That is the first I have heard of no retail though.

I saw another sketch artist for the M.A. set complete a 6-card puzzle so I knew I had to do one.

When Alvin gets employee of the month and the sweet parking spot it comes with, he's gonna have to send Crosby a sixer of his favorite beer as a thank you.

Parking spot? You know we're in New York City, right?

I'm working on getting Jason here to come out to NYCC, if we can nail down what we'll use him for

Here are my latest two sketches. Based on a couple of old pulp mag covers.

In case you didn't recognize them. I'm a huge fan of classic pulp sci-fi art.

No retail; this is a hobby only product.

Auction your parking spot on eBay. Seems fitting since that'll be the fate of half Crosby's sketch cards

So it looks like you guys (Topps) are taking over the Philly NSCS this fall with a big emphisis being put on GPK. Will you guys have anything else special going on at that show?

I'm not going so I really have no idea what they've got planned.

This guy just keeps cranking out gems. I wish we'd found him sooner and had him do more of the base cards. He did 2-- wish he'd done 20!

Lots of great-looking sketch cards here! Nice work all!

Still working on my cards. Looks like at least 73 of the 106 will be in color, but since I'm on schedule even while doing all color, they all may end up that way. We'll see.

And just so you all know how dedicated I am, I even managed to do the detailed pencil layouts for 25 cards while vacationing in Vegas this past weekend -- eight of them at the airport. And, amidst quizzical looks from the two people sitting on either side of me, I also drew about a dozen new concept roughs while flying across country.

Thanks! It's nice to be almost done. Only three cards of 106 left to do now!

It's no secret that I (and our editor) worked hard to find some new, talented artists for the sketches. But one thing I didn't say was that in addition to pulling in favors from established pros like Jeff Miracola (Magic: The Gathering) and Matt Frank (Godzilla & Transformers for IDW) I also recruited some old friends who've never done sketch cards. This one's by an old pal who grew up in my neighborhood named Darrin Pepe, and I think he's doing all color.

The space mercenary is a new character I created and designed for the story, featured in the base set. I'm pretty jazzed about it. The big monster men a lot of folks are drawing are new creations devised by our editor extraordinaire, and are one of the coolest new elements in the story, and something i'm kind of surprised (in retrospect) that nobody thought of before!

I'm sure beastie would be furious if he shelled out his hard earned money on a box of MA:I and that was the sketch card he pulled.
