But this go around, with a more limited release, I wanted to make sure she could break open some packs, so I got her an early Christmas present.
Your mom sounds cooler than most people my age.

How about some more?

I'm not gonna post any more of the Alien & Ginter ones here since Topps already shared them all on Facebook.

These are two of the six "Anatomy" acetate cards. Not the best examples, as there is nothing that shows through on these, but I hope I can complete this one!

These are 8 of the "Heritage Parallels." Good thing we made these pretty common, since they're AWESOME! Printed on heritage stock, too!

Two "gold foil" parallels. That's the last of the parallels I got in the box, I didn't get any concept parallels-- those are 1:48. If I had it to do over again, I'd make the gold foil more rare, since they're frankly the least exciting.

and finally.... MY TWO HITS!

Yeah it's just a martian face, but it's a great full color piece, and the Medallion is GORGEOUS. Picture does NOT do it justice.

Overall, I think it did well with this box and I love it so much. Nearly every pack had something different, something exciting, and something to get jazzed about. It's going to be fun for new fans and serious collectors are going to have some real fun hunting down and completing all the chase sets. W00t!

The art on the base cards and inserts is amazing! This is probably the first time I will actually observe every base card as I open each pack.

I'll be upset if I can't get a complete set of Heritage parallels, myself. And no, we often can't get complete sets around here.

Alvin:

Are there 95 heritage cards in the heritage set to match the base set? Or are they different images?

Also, did you get a base set in a box? You said earlier you wouldn't but with one hit in each box you should get 96 cards per box, so I am thinking a base would fall one per box???

Thanks!
Tim

Should have clarified: Heritage parallel only covers the 58 story cards, same for Concept parallels.

I did not get a base set in the box. Not even close. I got close to a full story set (54 of the 58 cards) but am missing many of the non-story cards. Between the medallion taking out 4 cards, and chase cards taking the place of base cards in packs, you get much fewer than 96 base cards.

One good thing is I can count on one hand how many duplicates I got, so collation (at least on this box) was really good.

thx for the info - so are the non-story cards SP compared to the full story cards? similar to galactic files when 1-240 were normal and 241-350 were slightly harder to get???

Not that I can tell. Seems fairly even. But with 58 story cards (and 37 non-story), you're bound to get more of the story cards.

The box opened here wasn't mine, I just swiped the cards for photos. I'll be opening my comp box tonight and video-ing it with my son.

I'm going to be sending a checklist out tomorrow. I don't have it on me and don't want to pretend I know exactly who signed. Don't want to put false info out there by mistake.
