because it's not likely we'll be able to nab Jack Nicholson or Danny DeVito or Glenn Close. But there are so many to choose from, even the lowest level actors include some popular names.

And did I only just now realize that Burton cast BOTH the Joker AND the Penguin in that?? Why did it take me so long to notice that?
what's sad is portman would bring more coin on the secondary market than anyone else - well maybe not jack...

michael j fox, annette bening - many others there!

would be so cool to get the a-listers but i know how that goes.

that movie has nothing to do with the greatness of the 1962 set. It destroyed it. I really, really loathe Tim Burton for turning a great scary story into a ridiculous comedy.

The key to enjoying that movie is to separate it from the cards.

Seriously: it was really intended to be a twisted political satire, and at that it certainly succeeds. It does a good job of spoofing classic sci-fi flicks from the 40s/50s/60s in a suitably and enjoyably cheesy way.

It reminded me very much of something Kurt Vonnegut might have done if he'd been an absurdist movie director.

The problem was, with Tim Burton at the helm and an all-star cast, the studio billed it as a big budget tentpole action-comedy, which it really was not.

Just make sure you get Jack Black to sign. He's too funny.

Believe me, we're trying. I can say that there are two names people will like confirmed.

At this point, orders are pretty much done, but there are a few more announcements to make in the coming weeks, which hopefully shows you we're not just throwing stuff in to drum up bigger sales.

I hope it illustrates how hard we're trying to pack this set with stuff you guys really want. It's not cheap and it's not easy, but we want you all feel you got your money's worth when you break a box.

I appreciate that and in can tell that you mean it. I caved and preordered a case after seeing some if the new art (Lion/Zoo piece in particular). The autos of celebs over artists is interesting too and adds another layer to the set.

Same here--locked in my case tonight. That base art looks amazing and the autos were the cherry on the sundae.

point taken, but it would have been so much better if it was taken seriously.

Those look awesome. And the 3rd card on the bottom row is too funny. Like a deer caught in the headlights.

Got my blanks, signed the backs last night, and am really stoked about getting started on my sketches later today.

Hoping this batch is even better than the ones I did for Mars Attacks Heritage, and Star Wars Galactic Files Series 1 and 2!

Let the Martian mayhem begin once more!

Very happy to have you back, Russ! Be sure to use the new card images as some added inspiration. Lots of new characters and situations to choose from! New monsters, new martians, new bugs and new ships and robots too!

Of course, using the original cards is also great!

I'll be incorporating themes and creatures from the original 1962 set, from the "Invasion" Facebook page (a ton of great new stuff there!), stuff I dreamt up for Heritage (see below), and new stuff I gin up for "Invasion" that adheres to the spirit/letter of the existing card series universe.

I'm in for a case, hopefully it isn't "shame on me" as Heritage was a failure in my book.

So not to sound like an ingrate but to be honest, I am really hoping that the autos are added bonuses and do not count as one of the two hits, because frankly this release just got weakened badly if the auto counts as one of the hits.

they are hits but they are very small in quantity compared to the number of other hits.

Considering there are also artist autos and creator autos we felt that some actor autos helped balance out the program...
