I think one thing that upset some people was that the second wave of SolarFly pre-sales for Carnival had just a four pack limit. People who missed the first wave thought they would still have a chance at an MSRP case during the second wave but didn't. I realize that was a much smaller run and you probably had an interest in spreading the remaining packs around to as many collectors as you could.

Should people learn from Carnival or do you think with the increase in set size that the second (and third, forth, etc...) wave will have the same 2 case cap per person?

1st wave has a 2 case limit, 2nd wave has a 1 case limit, 3rd wave will either have 1 case or a pack limit, depending on the final case count per set. Also I believe if you ordered 1st wave, you sit out the following waves.

Blowout will be different, but I assume similar limits to what they had before.

Aquatica sounds too happy lol.

The big angler fish on the landing page looks nothing like a dolphin doing flips in the air with rainbows streaming from its tail

^Done!

I'm glad to see the second wave will still have a case limit. So come the second wave of preorders this should be my first Viceroy product and first ever case bought.

Great! 2 chances minimum with SolarFly, and Blowout as a fallback. I shouldn't have any issues ordering my requisite 3 packs of each!

The Deep is where I'm intersted.. Good to hear there will still be cases come wave 2 and 3, this one just fall inbetween pay.. Will probably grab a box of Insectea ... I regret after getting 2 boxes of carnival not just buying a case.

might be a stupid question, but do Pre-Orders through SolarFly start at 9PM est? I can't find any information on the pre-order time for the pre-orders this week.
07/15 for INSECTEA
07/18 for THE DEEP

2 Cases for me =) It certainly is taking a noticeably longer time for them to sell out of the preorder than the Carnival release.

I think the two biggest issues are:

1) it's a larger set, so more is available
2) it's just days away from the The Deep pre-order, which some people may be more interested in and don't have the cash to dive into both right now

With set "second wave" pre-orders, there is a bit less fear to run out and get it now.

Personally, I prefer less clamoring and chaos

I think the short notice certainly has an impact. There was a lot of build up to the pre-sale of Carnival with artist previews and a lot of chatter. I knew this one was coming, but it still seemed to come out of nowhere. Knowing you have a good shot at a case in August is also probably slowing things down a bit.

The slow eBay sales for Carnvial sketches may also be slowing some people down a bit. I'm sure that is not stopping the usual dealers, but it might be stopping some people that thought Carnival was going to be a 'double your money in one weekend' rip and flip.

Personally, I'm very intrigued by the idea of INSECTEA and THE DEEP but I think 1000 is just too big for niche sketch releases like these and will probably sit both of them out. There will be singles galore available when they release so I can always pick and choose a small collection if I'm so inclined.

I'll definitely be picking up singles of both, as I can afford them, but I always grab 3 packs in preorder, for the chance at hitting one of those artists that I could never afford to buy singles. Plus, I can say that I have never been disappointed with any sketch I've pulled from any Viceroy product. And the only Viceroy sketch I've gotten rid of was to trade for THE Carnivale sketch I've lusted after since the preview came out, namely Mike Vasquez's Voodoo Ringmaster sketch.

I think being so close to the release of Carnival, this first wave of preorders more caters to those who passed or missed out on Carnival. Some people that bought Carnival don't have money put aside for these two early preorders due to the sudden first wave. And throw in an increase in cases/box production.

I think the next wave and possible 3rd will go quicker.

Looks like the SolarFly preorder is still active. Y'all are probably correct.

Or, they forgot to set the limit on their preoders, and someone is going to need a new pair of shorts in the morning...
