Typical "give us all your personal information and we'll enter you into a raffle for something that's worth considerably less than your information is worth" spiel... that you'll never win.

Yeah, I'm really disappointed that Katie Cook and Gary Kezele aren't in either set. They are my 2 favorite artists from Viceroy sets but I think the subject matter will make for some interesting and fun sketches regardless.

On a side note, they did add RHIANNON OWENS back, and Charles Hall...nonetheless, both sets I look forward to very much!

Currently:
SolarFly- Case $276.99, Box $27.99
Blowout- Case $294.95, Box $29.95
As an unbiased bystander, I agree with this statement. The runs are scheduled to be 1000 boxes each. I'd assume at least 70% of that is spoken for as part of this first wave pre-sale. Ryan can confirm or deny if he so chooses to. I just think of how quickly SolarFly sold out of their second wave with a measly 4 pack limit - and I didn't see a huge amount of 3-4 pack brakes so I'm guessing that wave had less than 10 cases available, meaning the vast majority of product was sold as part of the first wave of pre-sales.

I'll go ahead and drop these in here since it's just a quick sneak peek. We've added some cool letterpressed foil accents to the cards this time around.

The Deep has a blue metallic foil, and Insectae has a green holographic pattern foil to represent the wings. I think they turned out pretty cool!

You can also see that we went with a late 19th century catalog style for Insectae, and an exploration type theme for The Deep.

Ignore the color difference, just how the photos turned out. They are both the same white as usual. We'll have more updates soon!

Beautiful backs! Easy to see why you went with one style back vs. the 3 different in Carnivale, those great foil accents would have been a beast to deal with if you had different backs.

But, speaking of different backs, do you have scans of the AP backs to show us?

Edit: Oh! I just noticed the foil Viceroy logo on the dragonfly's thorax! That is AWESOME!

Question: You guys going to flip out and burn down the forums if an artist draws a millipede or centipede, even though those aren't technically insects? We're debating on forbidding them outright, or just not bringing it up and if an artist draws one, no big deal. Spiders are not allowed for sure though.

I am not a stickler for the science, I'm a stickler for great art! Besides, I have a friend who calls any small creature that she doesn't want in her house a "bug". This includes mice and rats.

I would take the middle route, and suggest to the artists to not do many of the millipedes and such. Tell them that if they want to draw large numbers of legs, to try and stick with caterpillars. They tend to be cuter looking than centipedes, anyways.

I'm a person that will correct everyone that tries to call a spider an insect, but when it comes to this product, I don't think I'll have any objection if there is slightly broader subject matter. It's not like you're creating a scientific journal.

Its about time you commented on this Personally, I think it is Viceroy's decision as to whether or not they want to limit the artists to critters belonging to taxonomic class insecta. Certainly arachnids could stand on their own as a set, but centipedes and millipedes probably could not. So I guess the question is whether to include them in this set or exclude them from ever being included in a sketch card set I would not be disappointed to pull a totally badass centipede or millipede, just curious why it was in a set dedicated to insects.

Its like pulling a Wolverine sketch out of a box of Iron Man 3 Movie cards. It is not like pulling a Superman sketch out of a Marvel product.

Quick update!

We don't have any cards in hand returned just quite yet, but we can show a few early snapshots from a few artists on both sets. We'll start updating with actual preview sheets once we get cards back in and scanned.

Enjoy!

I love the little caterpillar munching on the leaf

I don't suppose there's any chance the back of the card will say what the creature is, will it? Some of these are kinda cool but I would have NO idea what to call it or how to look it up. (Not because the art is bad obviously, just because we're not all a bunch of marine biologists or bugologists) I'd not only like to collect the ones I like, but to know what the heck I just bought a picture of =)

We asked the artists to keep a list of what they have drawn, and to write the name on the back if they can. Even if they don't, we should still have a pretty comprehensive list of what each artist has drawn.
