I was lucky enough to put together a serial # base set (04/40) from two sellers (thank you!). I figured I would post these since a few people asked me for pictures of the series I set. Here ya go:

Very nice, it seems that Series II isn't getting opened as much as the first time right? I can count on one hand what case #'s have been opened-based on the base card #'s on ebay and here...

Not just a base set, but matching serial numbers? That is impressive!

I didn't get into Series I until a few months after it had released, however, I do not see many boxes being opened either. I honestly can't believe I was able to put together a serial numbered set so quickly/easily. I believe that I got VERY lucky as I don't think that we will be seeing many completed sets in the future. Especially sets with matching serial numbers.

Now I'll only need the "Civil War" base set

If they would block Europe off of their places they ship to, it should stay up. Nazi memorabilia is illegal to sell in a at least a few of the Eurozone countries.

I noticed the Goering as well. It's still crazy to me how many big names from HoW series I were never pulled (that we know of).

I snuck Adolf on ebay, we'll see how long it'll last before it's removed. I don't expect it to last the 10 days. I'll be bringing it to the National and walk it around to sell.

Horrors of War Series I - Base Set
I have some of the autos 1/1,and some relics one 30/60 one 4/30 and one 50/60. But I still am a little confused about the set numbering.
For instance in your base set they are 4/40. I get the second number means there are 40 base cards? Right..but why is the first number 4 on all the cards. Or is it,it's hard to tell from the pics
Thanks,just curious

Like in series 1, the base cards are numbered for that particular card 1/40 through 40/40. They are also numbered for the production run /1600.

This guy's listings have clear pictures of the base cards:

Pickett's Charge Civil War Horrors of War II 2 Famous Fabrics Ink 57 10 40 | eBay

If you bought a master case, you will have the matching number for each card 4/40 for example.

Ah,so there are 40 of each of the 40 base cards. So there are 40 of the 1/40,and 40 of the 2/40 and 40 of the 3/40?
And a master case gives you all 40 base cards with the same first number( in this case 4 )
I get it now, thanks for clearing that up. And WOW,a matching set of base cards. That IS IMPRESSIVE:-)

In the first Horrors of War, I got the last mini case from the last master case made so my base cards were 1591-1600/1600 and all 40/40. It also had an Audie Murphy cut auto which I sold for good $$.

The base cards themselves are numbered #49-88 on the rear, which continues from Series I's (#1-48). The first digits on the base card in (**/40) designate which master case (/40) the base cards came from. So, if you bought a sealed master case, you would have a full serial numbered set (**/40) with cards numbered from #49-88. In my case, this base set is from case (04/40). Hope this helps.

Ebay (finally) kicked Adolf off, although it lasted 3 1/2 days. I got an offer from an Australian bidder that's pretty tempting but I think I'm still taking it to the National. I forgot to mention I'm still 11 cards short of the set too.
