Its a shame you dont have Gary Kezele on the artist list. He would do some master pieces for these types of scenery like he did with Space

Yeah the timing just didn't work out for these with Gary. He'll be back for future sets!

That's absolutely bonkers. I'm not a Nascar fan, myself, but the connection (assuming there is one) is completely lost on me.

How about Mythbusters for shark cage film relics/autos? They have a done a lot of shark myths and specials, and may even have a relic or two laying around that they might want to part with.... Maybe even throw in a bit of educational material on their cards. That would be really neat and a good way to get people interested in the set!

For Insectae autos there is also Les Stroud, aka Survivorman. He is like Bear Grylls raised to the next power- he goes out into the bush totally alone, with no support or camera crew for seven days at a time. Another guy who loves to nosh on insects.... And is big into conservation/wilderness education.

So, one of the neat things that some deep water operators do is take down styrofoam cups on the outside of their rigs. At depth, since styrofoam has so many air bubbles contained within it, it crushes to a percentage of its normal size.

For reference: LiveLeak.com - Styrofoam cup vs deep sea pressure

This might be a novel insert since it's actually been to the depths and back.

Not sure how difficult it would be to get your hands on any of these, however, but there are a number of pics you can bring up with a few searches.

I like the coral art idea, I've always been a big fan of brain coral!

The Deep: Shells; gift certificate for a free, stocked aquarium a la that cable show about making aquariums.

Insectae: Real pinned Butterflys

and make the gift if you use someone's idea a full case instead of a single box.

For The Deep, any chances of acquiring any relics from the sunken city of R'lyeh?

We looked in to a Lovecraft set... but there is still some controversy over what is public domain, and what isn't. We felt like it wasn't worth taking the risk of getting sued as such a new company.

You could save on the production cost of the entomology cards by having just wings.

It might be grotesque a concept but, for example, here in south Florida, we have tons of dragonflies and quite often, I see individual wings lying around. They are small enough to fit in a window on a standard trading card, and thin enough that they could be in-pack.

Any insect wings could qualify I would think.

How about cards with sand from different oceans around the world? Would be cheap to do and cool to gather all of them. There was a Harry Potter relic card with "magic powder" a few years back. Something like that.

Jules Verne cut auto or full auto (20,000 leagues)
Jacques Cousteau cut auto or full auto

Those would be awesome!

Wow,easily the strangest relic card I have EVER SEEN. And I mean ever. The relics with a piece of human hair were, well kinda gross. But understandable. And a shark tooth in your new set The Deep. Understandable, but with a NASCAR driver????? And why does Ricky Craven even have a relic card, lol

General question... if the Jacques Cousteau auto is a signed book... cut it, or do a redeem for the book?

If it's a signature on a document, we'll always leave it intact. A book is a little different, but I'm inclined to leave it and just redeem.

We have a really cool Ray Bradbury autographed book here at the office that we acquired... just waiting for the right set to use it in.

...in fact, I think you should strive to always keep the sigs attached to whatever document you find them on.

unless it is an index card or a page from a signature collection notebook, I agree about keeping intact.

Also, I think my painted sanddollar idea might be a bit iffy. I worked at a discount store near the beach 15 years ago, and we sold sanddollars with beach scenes and lighthouses painted on them. They tended to shatter if you looked at them wrong. We'd get cases of a hundred of them, each one wrapped in three square feet of bubble wrap, and usually at least 10-20 of them would arrive broken. Of course, the retail markup on them was outstanding, so we could eat that loss quite easily. I don't see putting them in packs would work, and don't think you want to look at redemptions for that many items.

As for the Bradbury book, a science fiction themed set would be awesome, sort of like a combination of Space and Cryptids, with outstanding spaceships thrown in!

Actually, it was sort of announced so I guess I can say, but it doesn't need to be in Viceroy's thread, and I don't know if it warrants its own thread now. Go over to the NSU Card Talk and search "Lovecraft" and you'll find it.
