For the hell of it, I picked up a Blasted Billy Gold refractor for $65. I didn't think the offer would be accepted, but oh well...

I know it's not Adam Bomb, but I figured these would go higher than that with the iconic GPK image on the card.

Maybe I made a stupid...

I don't know anything about previous Chrome sets, but the gold parallels have been similarly limited in the previous GPK sets but never numbered so I personally was not expecting them to be numbered.

Monkey... good luck Not sure it was dumb or smart. I checked the prices on eBay today for a hot second and I was surprised to see them pretty much all over the place... Prism refractors at BINs anwhere from $30 to $150. Blasted Billy is still probably the biggest draw beyond Adam Bomb and Nasty Nick so its not a terrible investment even if you over paid.

There is always a lot of debate about getting non-sports cards graded. I'm not familiar with Chrome cards, but if they are subject to the typical damage that regular cards are... I sure would consider getting a superfractor graded if I pulled one, even maybe some golds of really iconic cards like Blasted Billy. This isn't sports stars or celebrities. Some of these characters are immortal and rare cards in mint condition will be valued long after we're all dead.

Thanks Spider-Fan--I figured I'd strike early before people realize how plentiful or rare they are. Worst case, I'm probably overspent by $30--I can live with that. I got the gold and full base set for less than the price of two hobby boxes, so that'll work

By the way, the group break will be on tonight at 10:30 PM ET if anyone wants to watch. I've got the first batch of cards

I remember buying GPK when I was a kid. I bought a couple boxes and ripped one so far and pulled a SuperFractor of Stormy Heather. Anyone have an idea what it is worth? I have it on the bay. Thanks

P.S. really a fun break as it brought back memories and the cards are nice.

Just so you know this was WAY off.

I ended up busting 4 cases and sold off two of them.

Out of 4 cases I am able to make 35 sets.

Also was able to make 2 Semi-Master sets. Base+Lost, Sketches, Refractors of Base+Lost

I think the state of our economy is creeping into resale on things we don't really need.

That sale was in line with some expectations I had seen before release. I think the general consensus was for certain characters it could go over $1k, but for most it would be $350-500.

After taking part in buying like crazy at the lows in late '08 into early '09, you are 100% correct. It started to hit sportscards in general about a year ago, again. HOFer stuff, which I mainly deal with, just stopped showing up for auction because the winning bids were beginning to fall up to 30%. It's why nearly everything shows up as BIN/BOs today. Very few want to take the risk of an auction.

That is a great deal. If you get a set I would put them all in soft sleeves as soon as possible. Chrome cards are easily scratched in fact I pulled 10 cards out of retail that had factory scratches. For those that are ripping get those cards protected ASAP, you'll thank me later
