Default The Mortal Instruments is coming..... and Leaf just made the product even better!

Greetings..

As you have probably seen on TV everywhere, The Mortal Instruments is coming and fans are going crazy!!!!! The reviews are stellar and the Hollywood premiere had people camping out for days just to catch a glimpse of the cast!!

We are pleased to announce the below product enhancement. Each box will now include a specially stamped Premiere day BOX TOPPER. In addition, the Lily Collins signed costume cards will be part of this exciting program as well!

This should help to increase box and case sales (vs. pack sales) of this exciting product!

Thanks for your support!
Brian

The reviews are stellar lol? Can Leaf point me in the direction of just one stellar review by someone over the age of 18? Come on now, hype is hype, but don't straight up lie. The film is sitting at 19% on Rotten Tomatoes lol.

i always follow this guy, and his review is actually encouraging - it's a bad review, but he makes it clear that the movie is not for him (nor most reviewers). bottom line here: it's going to get killed by the critics but that alone is not an indication of whether it will be a success.

Bingo...Twilight wasn't exactly a critic's darling.

I'm curious about the Lilly Collins autograph costume card though. What does it mean that they are exclusively part of the premier date box topper card? Does that mean it's a redemption?

Like reviews have ever made a difference in the popularity of a movie. The Twilight franchise being a perfect example.

It sounds like, if you hit one as a boxtopper, it'll be just an extra hit and the box would still have all other inserts.

I'm thinking that is what caused the 10 day delay of release. They must have decided to not pack out the Lily Collins memorabilia autos and use them as part of this boxtopper program instead. The original sell-sheet, however, did show regular Collins auto cards as well. So, in theory, it's now quite possible to hit both the auto/mem and a regular auto of hers in the same box.

This is spot on. Owning a bookstore, I fully see how popular CC is. In fact, no one comes close to her in the genre. I mean no one.

I'm not going to speculate on the film, nor cards, although I suspect the tweens will go in pacts to see this film. I also feel the cards, with such a limited amount produced, will do well. But who knows.

Ill be seeing the movie tonight, read the first book and the movie doesnt look that bad (never listen to critics, as most ive seen tend to force their own agendas into their work). Anyways can't wait until the cards come out definitely getting some boxes.

Since the books and movie target a young demographic... I just don't get your post. Teens spend a ton of money on movies, and trading cards too. You could simply say "It's not for me."

What teen do you know that spends $75 on a box of cards? I sure don't know many.

The box office will tell if this movie is a hit or a bomb. I suspect it'll be a bomb. I've made it clear that this movie is not for me, no hiding that.

If these turn up in places like Hot Topic (like Twilight), they will sell - just not by the box (pack sales). With the limited release they may not show up at retail, but who knows who Leaf solicited.

retail packs have already been out for over a week.

singles will sell if the movie catches on with the fan base, and singles sales will drive box sales.

I doubt you see hobby in places like Hot Topic, but leaf did a retail version as well, and I'm sure that will end up there

Haha there are plenty of high school and college age kids posting breaks on this site... Didn't realize how many until I saw the "what grade are you going into" thread. You think these kids have money to create the heroin epidemic in our schools, but not for a box of cards?

I wasn't aware there was a retail version.

Never mind!

Heroin is the drug of choice over cards.

I was just about to post the Wednesday numbers, not good. It could pick up on the weekend but I don't know.

I think a lot of the movies success will come from overseas box office.
