Default 80 year old Autograph book

This belonged to my wife's maternal grandmother. She would collect the autographs when the Broadway and Vaudeville stars performed in Boston.

I believe we have them all identified except for 6 of them.
Bing Crosby, Jack Haley (Tin Man Wiz of Oz), Kate Smith, Rudy Valley.

Most if not all were signed in 1931-1933.

Pretty Cool to look at...

6th one down is Al Jolson. That's as big a name as the other 4 you've found.

Pretty sweet find you have there.

That is a really cool piece of history! Back when celebrities would never dimebag a fan by signing VM (Vernand Morency) or MA (Maurice Ager).

Anna May Wong was the first Chinese actress in Hollywood. It's very nice that she signed in two languages.

So I contacted the site owner of the site where thebear29 found the Conchita Montenegro auto match.

I told him we were interested in selling and he asked what we wanted.

I told him I had zero clue on what to ask and he offered $300.

Now I have to go to my FIL and tell him this.

He will now think it's worth a lot more and it will turn out like a Blowout brokedick vs Ebay +40% seller.

I believe I will bow out of this after I hear from 1 more person.

I see Morton Downey, the 'Irish Nightingale' and of course M.D. Jr's dad. Also, Lilyan Tashman is a big name in gay-lesbian circles because she married a gay actor and had huge gay-lesbian parties in the late 20's-early30's-like a scene from Boardwalk Empire. SHe also died really young in 1937. There wouldn't happen to be a young actor Montgomery Clift autograph in there? His signature is quite easy to read.

BTW, if someone offered $300 for Montenegro's signature sell it! She lived to the ripe old age of 95, despite becoming a bit of a recluse she did sign autographs for fans. She also never really did anything memorable in Hollywood.

No $300 was for the whole boox of autographs.

And there is no Clift auto. The 39 shown are the complete collection

I looked up Violet & Daisy Hilton, they were conjoined twins who were in 'Freaks' in '32 and a musical about their life, they didn't have a very happy life it seems and faded into obscurity and poverty and died alone in their apartment. That's what is so wonderful about a book of collected signatures from an era long ago when the person who held it and signed it was on top of the world with everything ahead of them. I forgot to say thanks for sharing and showing every page!

It is very cool to look at. The buyer upped his offer to $450 on the book. I am going to suggest my father in law take it unless I hear back from Brian Gray today if he shows interest for any upcoming release
