That's something new, at least I've never seen it before. On the back of the card it has "Drawn by:" and "Inspired by:" And it has 2014 Marvel Masterpieces listed on the back of the card. So maybe it will release earlier than the email I received. We'll see.....

These AP's look to be standard card size, as opposed to the oversized cards used by Rittenhouse... Is this normal for Upper Deck cards?

Only Rittenhouse has uncut AP blanks. Some companies like Breygent gave me 2 oversized AP cards from the Women of Dynamite set but that's rare. Versicolor was supposed to give me oversized cards from the Bettie Page set but they just vanished.

The Axebone Dungeon Dolls set also had oversize APs.

As did his Treasure Chests and Booty set. That resulted in my first ever AP commission from the wonderful Hanie Mohd

The oversized is nice as long as not too much logos and other designs take up space. The RA cards have all the cut lines and silly comicbook style page design that really get's in the way sometimes.

Just bumping this pre-existing thread since it appears there is still a great deal of interest in this set from Marvel set collectors.

There is a great deal of interest in this set coming out. Its funny. These threads start so early, and then totally lose steam and get lost months before the set comes out because so little information is released that there is no point in discussing anything. Another benefit of the Scoundrel format over this one.

I search for "2014 Marvel Masterpieces" at least once a day

I'm hoping more details about this set are released soon

I thought I was the only one! Thanks for bumping. I'm going to buy cases of the set (nice artwork, Jadams! Diggin' Carnage!!!) <--- looks like emotions cards from 2014 marvel premier.

I can say though, i'm a little disappointed with the card borders!.. looks like a dumb down version of 14' premier, full border. Maybe it's going to be a mid range cost set?

Ditto, not digging the card borders - maybe the borders are only for the promo cards?

I thought that too - but then I looked at the 2014 premiers, and they were the same border. Kind of a bummer. What happened? 2013 retro was awesome - then downhill! I think the money from these sets got to their head.

You like the layout of the Retro base cards? Meh... I prefer a boarderless card with just a little emblem somewhere so you know what set it is

I thought the Retro sketches looked great with their borders. I also think UD's recent trend of creating character specific sketch cards has been a positive for character collectors. It also serves to editorially spread out the number of different characters an artist draws (although artists can still use the non-character sketch variations to draw dupes).

I don't mind a discrete character name, but I don't like borders that interfere with the workspace for the artists. It's a small enough canvas as it is already.

As a collector who collected as kids, and now very recently as an adult.. I really like the borders . They would all be the same and non-unique to me if there were all no borders. I don't think I would like them as much if it were just a little logo.

I was really speaking towards base cards, but I think the same goes for sketches. All of the 90s Marvel Masterpieces sets had very simple layouts that really allowed the artwork to be the hero. I'd prefer this new set stand true to those, but the boarder on the promo cards is at least less intrusive than the banners/boarders of the past few releases.

I always hope I'll stumble across one of the original Jusko paintings used for those 1992 cards... Who knows what happened to them? How much they would cost? Certainly outside of my budget.

I think that 1992 Spider-Man is the only card in that set I never got
