I doubt it's cancelled. But with it all relying on one guy, especially Joe, you take the time necessary to allow him to do an awesome job!

I know I'm certainly itching to see this set release!!

NOT canceled! The art is taking a bit longer than anticipated. Unlike the first set these are 135 cover quality paintings. REALLY proud of the work! :-) Will be out Oct/Nov. They'll be worth the wait, I think!

I really am proud of the work. I didn't want to do another set if I wasn't given the opportunity to outdo the original. I'm glad UD was as invested in putting out the best product possible as I was.

I never even knew that was in the works. Now I'm curious to see them.

Thanks, Joe, for checking in!

On the topic of realism; I grew up a 60's Marvel kid and I can't see the characters as "real people". They're comic book characters and I just can't treat them the same as Tarzan, Lara Croft, Cona, etc. who lend themselves to a more realistic approach. My palette is brighter, as well, because I think treating them that way brings back a bit of the magic I felt as a kid. There are plenty of guys today painting hyper realistic interpretations in muted palettes.

Mr. Jusko, or Joe if you prefer, this is the Marvel set we have all been waiting for since 1996 (your first set was excellent, the Bell/Vallejo '96 set was a worthy successor).

Your description of your drive to produce a great body of work makes the anticipation that much more intense. Thank you in advance for putting so much effort into the project.

Regards,

Jeff

It'd be great if UD made a tin set for this series like Skybox did.

I'm really looking forward to this. I've collected off/on the past couple of years for autos/sketches, but this time around I will want to collect all the base cards. I absolutely loved the first Marvel Masterpieces set.

If I were really me, I'd say "Thank you" for the compliment! Apparently, I'm not really me, though, so....LOL

Joe a long time ago you were at mega-con in Florida and you had a Tarzan painting displayed. I believe it was one of the prominent Tarzan paintings you did. Just want to ask, was it acrylics, gouache or oils? It kind of had that gouache look to it but I'm not sure. This was in the late 90's before Mega-con moved into the convention center.

I remember that! I believe Frazetta was at the same show that year! I work exclusively in acrylics. Never had the patience for oils.
