Default What is the deal with Indiana Jones Heritage?

The Spielberg Auto just ended for $4600. The Ford Auto should go for at least $5000-7000 and the Lucas for close to the Spielberg. My question is with how well some of the sketch cards are selling and the SP Autos why is this product not selling better? Chris lowered his case prices from $400 to $300!!! I am sitting on cases and not looking to make a million dollars but thought it would turn a quick profit but now I am worried about it all together.
There are less than 4500 cases which these days is not that crazy and the fact that there are still 7 of each Ford,Spielberg and Lucas Autos out there I would think it would sell better.
What does everyone else think?

There has actually been some discussion on this. First thing is there hasn't been and Indy set in 20 years so the collecting base needs to be built up. Some have made a good point that the Indy 4 movie set should have been released first. The heavy marketing of the film would get the name out there again and that set would have whet the appetite of fans and then the Heritage set would have been a good follow-up with the road having been paved by the movie and the first set. Another thing is there are a lot of reported "dud" boxes, no auto or sketch and while some boxes are sporting 2 hits they don't seem to be evening out to 1 hip per box after viewing many cases, 1 person who did a 10 case break ended up with 65 hits instead of the 80 expected and a lot of people who buy 1 or 2 boxes are shying away worrying they will get skunked. The other big thing is that for non-sports 4500 cases is a monsterously big number. Huge licenses like Star Wars and LOTR have generally been around 2500 cases and those are still considered BIG releases , really limited releases like Women of Marvel will have only about 650 cases.

To summarize:

1- Not enough time to hype the product to the mainstream
2- Too many dud boxes
3- Too much product out there for now (should eventually dry up though)

4- I'll add in what I call the Waterhouse effect too. Another 3000+ godawful sketches the people actually fear pulling. Some people have actually said they'd rather get a dud box than pull another Waterhouse sketch. While not as bad as LOTR M2 where people were getting as many as 11 of his sketches in a case they are still falling about 1 per case, which in reality is another dud box.

i did 4 cases for $325 per, and after fees only got $569 back, sketches and autos sell under $10, or at least 90% of them do

Brent I have a case "waiting for me" Do you think it is worth breaking or is it best to sell by the boxes??? I hope for the best but is it a long shot??

Another thing I forgot which should be factored in is there are TWO! more Indiana Jones sets coming out too close together, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull is due out in just 1 month and Indiana Jones Masterpieces (all art, no autos) in a few months. Not everyone can afford cases of all 3 and might either be buying just a few boxes of each or picking just 1. Sketch collectors might very well be waiting for Masterpieces rather than buying Heritage where the autos are more of an annoyance (unless you get a BIG one of course).

This is one way to look at it. There are very few products that come out with a price point as low as roughly $40 a box with the chance of pulling multi-hundred or even thousand dollar cards. Yes I have seen a fair share of Autos and Sketch cards selling in the $10-$20 range but have also seen some nice sketch cards selling for $100-$800.
There is no gauranteed product to get your money back but for the cost this one offers a chance at some really nice pulls.

I have done well with all non-Waterhouse sketches. Rather than sit on cases, you are better off breaking them and taking your chances. It's fun and very little labor is involved.

Just grabbed a case now that the price has dropped. Haven't bought any non-sports cards before but I am a huge Indy fan. This should be fun to open.

Will do. Hopefully I will get some nice sketches to put on display in my home theatre.
