So overall, there may be a 50% increase in production. Getting 50% more high quality sketches will be very difficult for UD to do, in fact I think it would be difficult for UD to get as many high quality sketches as they did for the first set even if they didn't increase production.

So if you are going to pre-order this set, be careful. Prices will likely be very high based on demand and everyone thinking it will blow up like the first set.
Haven't they been working on this set for 2 years? The last set came out at the end of 2012.

The other site has 2012 Marvel Premier on sale for $350. Still not in my price range, but that seems like a good price.

Singles seemed to have peaked on the 2012 set. Almost the whole Marvel
Trading card market seems soft...

that is sooooooo tempting. It's pricy but well below the crazy that it was about 6 months ago. Nobody would go under $500/box. I am pretty sure their black Friday price was $400 or $450. Hmmmmm... to risk it or not....

Same here, very tempted ... not sure if it's really worth it at that price !

The price of Premier 2012 will logically drop when Premier 2014 will be out ?

The only reason it would drop would be more related to the softer values/sales of sketch cards than just the release of another MP product. There are inserts in MP1 that sold at $1,000+, and others in just under that range, that are nearly impossible to locate. I can't imagine it falling below $300/box - there is virtually zero product left to open so there's very little incentive for people to undercut on pricing. Now, it just depends on where the line is that collectors are actually willing to take a chance on it again.

I doubt 2012 Premier will drop much when 2014 Premier comes out. 2012 Premier is so high because it's dried up and not much left of it available.

I did see that 2014 Premier has been put up for pre-sale at one site... for $300/box! YIKES, let the gouging begin. I have a feeling production is going to be up big time for this set, and anyone buying at $300 will need to have an amazing break to hope to break even. Don't forget, 2012 Premier was available for $200-225 for like 6 months before it started going up (and was even below $200 for the Black Friday sales).

You just knew this is what would happen. Everybody who passed on MP1 now wants to reap the profits on MP2. There's a reason things work out like they did for MP1. It was underordered, collectors were skeptical of "high-end" sketch product and dealers didn't want to be stuck with expensive stock so pricing was highly competitive. And, yes, it was as low as $185/box for a very short time. It actually lasted through the 'black out' period at my distributor and the case I got was like $1140 delivered.

If you do the math on this at 10 more base cards... and JUST off that... it works out to at least 165 more cases of product at 2 base cards per box. With all the parallels, etc., it's looking like about a 33% increase in production. Not crazy but no reason to be charging insane prices over cost this early.

I think value is still there as long as you can get some nice sketches. But I think unlike MP 1, base cards will sell okay for the right character. I remember MP1 base cards were getting crazy money for a while when set collectors came in. Depending on the price, I'd like to take a shot on a box or two of MP2.

Good for them if they get that, but I'm not a buyer at that price.

...Especially considering the cards were "in the mail" for 3 weeks and artists only got a 1 1/2 week extension? Not a UD artist myself, but all the buzz is whether to try anyway or send back blanks. I do not envy them that workload on that deadline.

I know Lak Lim dropped out of the set due to unreasonable turnaround times for the sketch cards....and he is one of the higher end artists. I would want to see the artist list before I bought into this set. Also I don't think there will be Classic Corners either in this one.

Short deadlines on this set make zero sense whatsoever. It's not like sports cards with rookies, etc. Just send the things out and tell everyone it's coming out Q1 2015. We need whatever you're returning, back by Dec. 31st 2014. Seriously, every other thing in this release is manufactured and can be produced whenever they feel like it.

So, is this still on for July? I need to start saving my 10's and 20's to battle for sketch cards if so. If people are forced to pay $300/box (or whatever insanity is prevalent), the BIN's will be $100 for the base sketches.

I wish there was someone local who I could work a deal out with to get all the non-sketches and I get the sketches. As it is, I guess I'll just pick up some singles since I don't care about the other cards and moving them via trade would be a pain (I don't sell).

I think I'm going all sketches on the market on this one. I know there will be SSP insert variations of shadowboxes, or whatever, but I just couldn't care less about that stuff. I'd rather take that $300 and pick up 2 sketches I really like. I figure it'll be over ordered due to dealers not wanting to miss out this time around. In that case, I think the 2 sketch per pack is going to hold strong - nothing like MP1 where a 3rd was actually pretty common. I know I had a few with 3.

BTW... it says the base cards are limited to 199 each, but were they numbered last time (I.e. 1/199, 2/199, etc)?

Yep, same as last time but there are 10 more base cards. All the 1st series were serial numbered on the front /199.

Don't the base cards also have lower numbered parallels or was that wrong information? I thought they said they have /199, /25, and /1?
