Default Show Off Your Favorite Printing Plates

I think printing plates are pretty cool, and I pick one up here and there. I still haven't ever completed a rainbow yet, but hope to do so someday.

Post your favorite printing plates in the thread below.

I have quite a few printing plates now, but this is probably my favorite Rocket Raccoon plate:

Marvel Beginnings 3 card #369 -- Rocket Raccoon Black Printing Plate

These two, since they are all I have.

This is Arrow base card 27, Ice Cream solves All Problems. Black of course. I think I may go after the rainbow of this plate, so if you see any of the others, let me know please! Will also need bronze and gold parallels. This may be a dumb question, but are there more than 4 plates per card since they'd have to print 3 different borders? Or is that somehow done seperately?

This is the Magenta Lana base card from Superman the Legend.

I don't have a ton of interest in printing plates, but I was hoping to make a run at the rainbow for both of these. Sadly, I've hit a brick wall. Even if the others appear, it looks like the prices on these have gone up to the point where I wouldn't pay for them anyway.

Spider-Man from 2014 Marvel Premier - I own the original pencils for this card, and expanding that small collection is the only reason I've joined the group breaks.

Iron Man ('92 Impel style) from Marvel Fleer Retro. I hit this one in my break and was able to acquire the magenta from another member here pretty quickly afterward. Haven't seen another since

And a little buyers remorse. I sold the first printing plate I ever hit, a black plate featuring a close up of Nick Fury from the 2012 Avengers Assemble set. Ended up going for only $10 at auction. One of the few cards I've sold that I wish I hadn't.

...
That's a really nice Spidey plate. And if you are only going to get one, the magenta is a good one to get since red is the dominate color of spidey's costume.

It does seem like the Marvel Premier 2014 plates aren't popping up as often as the MP 2012 plates did. I attribute this mostly to the fact that MP2014 sales have been lackluster in comparison to MP2012. With the plates only hitting one to a case (on average), and case prices only now starting to fall, it might be awhile before we see more plates.

For example, in the 6 months since the set released, I have only seen one Rocket base card plate... the below magenta that I bought via BIN:

Hopefully, the other 3 will pop up someday!

And in other plate news... this cool Thor black printing plate came in the mail today. It was a pickup from Ian's latest case break.

That Thor plate turned out VERY cool.

I always wonder about UD sets and whether or not all the plates are inserted into packs... There usually aren't posted insertion rates for the plates, although they seem to fall 1-2/case across all of the UD Marvel products regardless of production numbers...

The only Topps printing plate I've ever pulled, from the only box of Indiana Jones Masterpieces I opened, the black plate for card 38, Add A Little Romance. The sketches were forgettable but the plate was really cool so I was looking into getting it autographed by the artist. The art was done by John Alvin who is about as iconic an artist as you can find and no doubt created more art you've seen than you realize. He passed away in 2008 but his imprint on the art world will stand witness to his talent.

Remembering John - John Alvin Art

Two of the four plates for card 25 from 2013 Fleer Retro. I had the opportunity to get all four cards but passed not wanting to be that hoarder keeping someone from putting together a set of plates or have one for their own collection. Just knowing I could have done it is cool enough for me. Really enjoy the propaganda folded poster look to the piece.

And then the black plate for Code Name #35, which as many of us know was never actually made its way into produced cards in packs. So I figured, especially not seeing many sketches in 2014 Premier that I want, I should add this to the few I've brought home.

Cool plate! I have the red plate for the back of that unproduced card:

CN-35 Red Skull

And I am trying to collect at least one plate of all of the unproduced Codename villains cards. There are 8 plates for each character (4 fronts and 4 backs). Here are others that I have so far:

CN-32 Green Goblin

CN-33 Venom

CN-34 Loki

CN-35 Red Skull

CN-36 Ultron

CN-37 Thanos

CN-38 Sabretooth

CN-39 Apocalypse

CN-40 Magneto

CN-41 Mystique

CN-42 Mojo

I really like the codename back plates. The art/artist they used really lends itself well to these.

The back art of the Codename cards are hidden gems!!! It is almost like having another mini-base set within MP2014. The artist is Bong Dazo for most (if not all?) of the Codename card backs.

Looking at the checklist the set truncates where the villains begin so maybe they thought the baddies weren't worth doing.

Big fan of the show Big Bang Theory so figured it would be a fun challenge to get one plate for each card from the series 3/4 set. Down to 4 to complete my set

Need Help with my BBT Project (scan heavy)
