I'm going to be in the market for a new printer soon...but I was wondering what kind of scanners some of you guys use and if it's a combo printer/scanner.
I've been using my digital camera for pics because, I really don't like my scanner...it's an HP and I never really mastered the software...just seems to take forever and a day to get a the scans how I like them. __________________ Checkout my cards ID--- ShortStop_Cards Collecting Brandon Phillips nameplate 08 SP Authentic /75 |

I wouldn't spend a ton on a scanner. As long as you can get 300 dpi scans, just about anything will work. Unless your selling a ton of very high end cards I wouldn't go overboard with the scanner. I use a HP PSC 750 (combo print/scan/copy) that works just fine, think I paid $125 for it 5 years ago. Only problem is the scanner is crapping the bed on me, so it only works when its in the mood

Check your scan quality settings. You could also try to put a black felt cloth behind the cards. The black will absorb some of the extra light from the scanner bulb and should make the scan look better.

I have a Dell AIO (all in one). Scans, Copies, faxes, prints, washes the windows, etc... I wouldn't spend a ton of money on one of these. Patrick is right, $125 is about as much as you need to spend and it should do everything you will ever need it to do.

I use a CanonScan LiDe 90. It is USB powered and I haven't had any problems with it after about a year of usage.

As others have said, even the low-end models from brands like Canon and Epson will be fine. I'd still make sure you have a good digicam (w/ good macro mode) for taking pics of the few kinds of cards that don't scan well.
I have an old "mini flatbed" scanner from HP that scans up to 4x6". Very fast for scanning cards as it doesn't have to scan/process an entire 9x12" area. But these are extremely hard to find these days. |

Sounds good guys...I'll see what a can find on the low end that you've suggested
I do have a nice digital camera with macro mode (Sony Cybershot) and it's worked pretty well, lighting can be a problem on some cards though. __________________ Checkout my cards ID--- ShortStop_Cards Collecting Brandon Phillips nameplate 08 SP Authentic /75 |
