My Puppy earned his kibble tonight!

Well ok...Zeus will be 3 come Christmas, but he's still my puppy! Had one really bad outing this week (lets just say I'm not one for disobedience and/or mutiny on my ship)..but tongiht worked out really well. Drove up to the Maple River Flooding and decided to try it (1st time for me). My little canoe did the trick, but given its been a week since the opener, some of the cattails have been pretty well mangled by bigger boats, but I found a little cove to tuck into. 3+ hours and no birds even flying, I'm picking my up my decoys getting ready to motor back to the launch and the man upstairs sent me this really pretty hooded merganzer hen. Zeus stayed on command, then when commanded launched himself into the water and brought me his 1st duck! This may sound really pathetic...but daddys pretty happy..as I said Zues will be 3 on xmas and this is now his first duck retrieve....I'm of the hunt lots get little tribe!

If you look beyond my goose decoys, you can see the two swans (didnt get close enough to tell if they were mute or trumpet)

Reminds me of Old Dan and Little Ann.
That must be alot of fun. How do you cook those.

Kevdog...typically just frying in butter with some Flour for coating (with garlic salt, black pepper, and some misc. spices I can find laying around the house). Quick, easy, and pretty tasty (well other than it being a Merganzer, which are typicaly one of the worst tasting ducks). Occasionally I'll maranate them in Italian Dressing.
