Thanks to a nudge from marino5084, I went over to Midtowncomics again today and bought 3 more of prints 1,2,3,4. The 1st prints are now $75, but you can still make money at that price, granted, not as much as when they were $3.99, but they're still selling like crazy, especially overseas... foreigners love Obama.

Well sent 13 copies for grading, we shall see what I get. Good chunk of $s even with 10% off thanks to Indy's link. I guess they only return registered so that was a bit of change.
Only 2 -1st print, 5 -2nd, 3 -3rd and 3 -4th. got them at issue price except for one 1st $50(that one will be put away.
I figure if I get top grade I should do o.k.. Anything over $21. (ave. cost per with all s&h and Grading)
Thanks again for all the info Indy

The graded copies are going nuts. I have seen 1st issues going for $250-$275 I just sold ungraded copies of the 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th for $140. I have a few sets left and more on the way. The 1st is completely sold out at Midtown and if they did have any it wouldn't be profitable at what they would be asking at this point. Sets of the others are still selling well though. I think I will have my personal copies graded. Have the 1st through 5th so far and 1 Romita.

Thanks again Indy.

No problem. I have 70 copies being graded, and am sending in 20 more today. I kept buying them even as they reached $70 a copy because I was still doubling my money at that price. The 1st issues are almost impossible to get under $100 right now, unless you can win an open auction at some odd time of the night, but I've got plenty and will have some extras to sell at the end of the month.

I've been selling 2nd Printings, graded 9.6-9.8 for anywhere from $50 to $100 each. If that tells you anything. I don't think they'll depreciate much unless the public really starts to hate the man.

If you did the standard Modern tier, it's 20 business days. Give them 2 to ship, so roughly a months time, you should see them 3rd week of next month. You can usually get your grades via email when they ship so you can list them before they arrive if you'd like.

Thanks for the info...methinks I'll be stopping at Safeway on the way home...and I'm reasonably sure the copies will still be there....as "someone" may have kinda/sorta tucked them behind a stack of "Bride Magazine"

You used to be able to, but now you have to pay a yearly subscription fee in order to do so. When did you send them in, and did you do the modern service?

I sent in orders on the 11th and 12th of Feb, and I'm guestimating I'll get them this Friday, so you should see yours this week as well, possibly next Monday. The US Postal Service is weird coming from CGC, my last order took them 7 days to get it to me, and then the next one, two days.

I hope your 1st prints grade well. So far I've had 20 graded, and only 13 were 9.8's. 6 9.6's and one 9.4 (ouch!)..

Thanks for the info.. Only one 1st the rest are 5-2nd 3-3rd & 3 4th. Got in on it too late for the 1st. Thinking 1 comp set and try to get money back on the rest. Maybe three lots of 2nd, 3rd & 4th don't know

As you said, depends on the grades. I will post when they arrive.

if you get a 9.8 on the 1st, and have 9.8's on at least 1 of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th, sell all four as one auction. That'll draw big $$$

I finally opened and checked out my single 1st Printing from Midtown the other day. I noticed there is a printing flaw on the front and it has a very slight crease on the top edge. Am I better off just selling it as is since it likely won't get a 9.8?

A huge thank you again to IndySportsCards for the heads up on this!

I had also preordered 15 copies off a place on Ebay for about $20 each. They took a while to get them to me but they did come through. I listed them all in one lot with a bin/bo of $1,300. Some guy asked if I'd ship to Canada so I changed my listing so he could send an offer...much to my shock he hit the BIN!

prices are coming down on graded ones, but just last week I got $100 for a 1st printing 9.6.. I had a few like the one you have and I just sold them raw instead of wasting money and time to get it graded.

Congrats on the HUGE sale. That's awesome! Capitalism DOES work!

Yeah, the Obama (and for me Tiger Woods) economic recovery plan has fared me well in 09. Did Topps ever send those Bob Sanders Mayo autos?
