Sad day, my LCS supports pack searching!

Well, it looks like Blowoutcards officially has all of my box business from now on. I stopped by my local shop today to see if he had anything new. As I am looking around I notice one of the shops "regular customers" feeling up a box of basketball product. He selected 3 packs, opened them, 3 jerseys. The shop owner watched him the whole time and carried on a conversation with the guy while he did it. Keep in mind, this is a shop owner who talks at great lengths about how he just hates pack searching. "That's why you know it's safe to buy here. I dont care about whats in the boxes so long as my customers are happy. I dont collect, and I dont open. I sure as hell do not allow anyone to search my products!" So I politely waited until the customer left, in case it got a little heated. I said "So, is it just me or was that guy pack searching?" His response, "Well, there are 4 hits in that product and he only bought 3 packs. There's another hit in there somewhere". What kind of answer is that!?!? He has lost my business all together. Now when I think of all the times I have bought pack after pack, and hit nothing. I always chalked it up to my bad luck, or the hit may have been snagged out of one of the 2 packs missing. Now I just assume it went to one of this guys "diamond club" members. I do have another option for a local shop, but I have seen the guys there opening out of boxes way too many times. Lesson learned, buy from Blowout!

Shame it went down like that. One of the biggest reasons I buy a full sealed box even if it is a trusted source.

I don't think he's that crazy.

Seriously though. I can't believe that happened. I would never go back. I have a great card shop in Virginia that I used to go to. They would open up another box if they knew the "Hits" were already gone. Even if I was clueless about what might have already happened.

Well on a positive note, at least you dont have to lose any more money going to his store...if thats how he runs the show

always buy sealed boxes from reputable sellers...unless you can pack search before anyone else can (the golden double-standard) ;-)

wow that sux big nutz...if that was the answer the shop owner had given me he would have gotten bitch slapped (not that i condon violence of any type) just a natural reaction from me

Unfortunately I think that would be considered "accessory to bitch slapping" and you still might get in trouble. I would not recommend that as a course of action.

Oh well. I think we'd all agree this might be worth the "First Offense". I'll mow the lawn at Blowouts HQ as my community service time.

That is complete BS that a store owner would allow that. I am lucky enough at my LCS that the owner will open a new case for us to pick fresh boxes , even if there are boxes sitting on the shelf. Now that is a owner I trust.

It has been a good ten years since I bought a loose pack. I was in the LCS (Florence KY) and heard in the back room a kid complaining that he was getting fooled by the decoy card and the owner bellowed out loud "why don't you announce to the world that we search packs". That woke me up to absurdity of blindly trusting someone to do the right thing.
